S-Works EXOS

Thoughts on using the S-Works EXOS for an Ironman?

I am currently using the Torch 1.0 and like the way that Specialized fit my feet. Truly, I don’t know how much value there would be in upgrading my shoes…because shoes are shoes, correct? And the Torch 1.0 seem to be performing the basic functions of cycling just fine.

However, I’m open and willing to upgrading my shoes if there is benefit in doing so…I bought the Torch 1.0 shoes when I was brand new to the sport and wanted to spend a minimum amount of money. Now that I’m training for an Ironman, I’m willing to spend more if there is benefit in doing so.

With that being said, I have my eyes on the Specialized EXOS. Any input would be appreciated.

I have both the Exos and the Vent and I ride mostly with the Vents. I race with LG tri shoes.

Exos nice and light but like the structure and ‘hug’ of the vents, and feel the power transfer of the vents is better.

Vents I’d maybe use in a full as the boa wire and hooks would not make for a quick t1 transition.

The Exos might be better in that regard as it just one boa and no hooks but I do notice the wire will catch on the cutouts on the tongue.

It was an expensive experiment in getting both shoes but I got a great deal on them at the time. Probably sell the Exos at some point,
