I’m reading Daniel’s Running Formula and he keeps referencing strides, but never explains what they are. I Googled a bit and found some information, but want to make sure the terminology is the same between Daniel and Google. Can anyone explain what he means by strides? For example:
I’d say that’s a pretty good page to read, seems to explain it quite well. I only use strides in the last run or two before my big race. Get up to speed, hold form, control breathing, think about how I’m going to do the same in the race, slow it down. It’s just a prep thing for me - mimicking a race without the fatigue that comes with longer efforts.
Strides are a great way to get the legs going fast without being to taxing. Right now I am doing 6 strides through out my run once a week, and these strides will eventually turn into intervals. I think they are a great way to get the body ready for the speed work that is to come when triathlon season really takes off. I also do them before any track session or race.
