I have 2 problems with every visor or cap I’ve tried running/racing in: 1) it soaks up sweat and gets heavy, and starts dripping and 2) it holds in heat.
Do you guys have a “go to” visor or cap that is good in these regards?
I’ve also tried running with nothing, but sweat runs into my eyes and BURNS my contacts.
I have this hat and this visor. Both of them are cool and comfortable. Eventually they both get saturated with sweat, but I don’t know of anything that wouldn’t. My solution is to wear them backwards whenever I don’t actually need the bill to keep the sun out of my eyes - the sweat drips off the end of the bill and stays out of my eyes. The weight thing hasn’t been an issue for me.
I have a Zoot hat and vizor. No complaints about either. Of course, I rarely run more than 60 minutes so wouldn’t accumulate sweat to the point of complete saturation typically.
I’ve never had any problem with any Headsweats visors. Although when I first started wearing them, I thought it was hot. I eventually got used to it, and don’t even notice it anymore. And I’ve done some pretty hot runs.
I’m a VERY heavy sweater. I’ve found nothing that doesn’t get saturated if it’s over 70F outside. Guess it doesn’t help that I shave my head and don’t have that hair to help soak up sweat. Nike drive fit hat and turn it backwards if/when dropping becomes a problem. Typically I’m soaked everywhere and dripping off the end of the bill keeps it out of my eyes, so I just roll with it most of the time.
I have a headsweats visor. Works great for getting rid of sweat (it runs off the tip of the visor vs. into your eyes). It’s no help with the second issue though; I find it quite hot.
Headsweats. Works well enough outside and I’m a heavy sweater. Indoor nothing works so I got a towel in front of me and a backup visor or hat at arm’s reach to switch to after 30-40 minutes or so.
I’ve had the same problem with sweat in my eyes and heat. The heat is the main issue! (I’ve got beautiful long, flowing locks. Hah) so it’s pretty easy to get overheated. I’ve used the hats and visors from mission cooling for years.
Mission makes those goofy towels that have cooling evaporate qualities. Goofy gimmic, yes, but they work. The hats and visors I don’t notice much of a cooling effect, but I do notice that they don’t get sweat logged and hot like most other hats would. Same with the visor. They are also durable as hell. I love mine. Not super stylish, but neither is puking your guts out by the side of the road due to heat stroke!
Worth checking out. My main selling point was that they don’t get bogged down and seem to evaporate the sweat more, and they’re super durable. Not so much any “cooling” effect.

I like headsweats but for sweat in the eyes, when I know it’s going to be hot for cylcing and running, I put some bodyglide used for wetsuits/running along the top of my brows and eyes…the sweat goes around it.
I have had to start wearing head coverage on any sunny run. I have the same issue with hats: dripping and heat build up. I found a cooling bandana with sunglasses is much cooler and comfortable than a hat. They are easy to wet and cool off, and they can be pulled over the ears to block the sun’s rays. I wear mine like a headband with the extra material pulled back over my scalp.

Never thought of this approach. So you just do a quick swipe across the top of the eyebrows and it actually keeps the sweat from dripping into your eyes? I’ve tried all kinds of things, but being in humid florida and being a fairly heavy sweater always leaves me with sweat dripping and running all over my sunglasses on longer bike rides. I’ll have to try this.
I’ll use the suncreen sport stick in the same way. It’s like a giant chapstick applicator and helps with my overflowing sweat. If only my eyebrows were more neanderthal-like I’d be golden
The elastic on Headsweats break down pretty quickly, especially if you hang them by the strap.
I have a Nike visor and cap, and anAdizero visor. They’re all a few years old and going strong. I love them equally.
You have to check your pride at the door when you don a plastic headband… but it will keep the sweat out of your eyes (of course it will run down the channel and drip onto your shoulders instead of in your eyes)
It works surprisingly nice on the bike (immediately under your helmet)
You can wear it under a running visor/cap, but the sweat is eventually going to soak into the bill and it is going to start raining
