I will be in Atlanta for a day and would like to get in a run. Any trails in the area near GSU? I will have a car but dont want to drive unless I have to. Thinking about 5-10 miles. I guess I would like to stop by ALL3 also.
Thanks

near GSU you would have the stone mountian path route near freedom parkway. It is paved though. Im not to sure what you would find in an off-road type trail anywhere near GSU. and all3 is kind of a trek from GSU, especially in rush hour traffic.

Stone Mtn has beautiful trails, but is not in the same direction as All3.
GSU is probably 25 minutes from All3 in non-rush hour times. To get to All3 you would head north on 85 and then north on GA400. You will pass through Buckhead on GA400 and the 285 perimeter area. I believe the All3 exit is about three north of 285. I think they open at 11, but you may want to check. If you want to run some good trails before All3 opens, then two exits before you get to All3 will lead you to the Cochran Shoals and Sope Creek Trails. They are part of the National Recreation Area of the Nat’l Parks Service along the Chattahoochie River. The trails are off Columns Drive. You can get in a 5k loop on crushed gravel over a very flat course at Cochran, and Sope Creek is adjoining the Cochran Trail and it goes on for several miles of very steep and also rolling hills. Columns Drive itself is a popular biking and running street because it is 2.5 miles long and leads you right to the Cochran parking lot. So many area runners will run the flat 5k loop in Cochran, then do the 5 mile loop along Columns Drive and repeat.
Another option is the Silver Comet trail. It is a 50 mile long paved trail from ATL to the ALA border. It is probably 25 min from GSU up 75 and then over on 285.
I’d google Cochran Shoals and Sope Creek Trails for trail maps and better directions. The All3 folks can also give you directions to each if you visit them first. The weather is going to be nice this week, so enjoy.
