I hate to say it out loud, but my favorite running shorts are lulemon running shorts with a phone pocket as part of the liner that holds my iPhone closely against the side of my leg such that I don’t even notice it’s there. They are expensive, but worth it. I’d love to find a pair of men’s running tights that don’t require you to wear shorts over them with a phone pocket on the outside. They make them for women, but I have not seen them for men. Anybody running with tights with a phone pocket that they like? I hate the cold and wear tights to run in anything less than 50 degrees.
My Nike tights have a pocket on the back that can fit a standard sized iPhone with a slim or no case (not the plus models). No idea what model they are or where I got them.
Maybe not the answer you’re looking for but I use a flipbelt and then can pick whatever tights I like regardless of having a pocket or not.
Most of my running tights of varying weights are Nike’s… sadly none of them fit a phone in that pocket. The trick is finding the right model apparently. Thanks
Yeah I tend to find belts or similar annoying. I like that I completely forget the phone is there when it’s held tightly against the outside of my leg. But thanks.
I have Saucony and North Face tights that have a rear pocket that fits a standard iPhone 8 with a case. I think most tights have this feature now but not all fit a plus-size phone.
The Surge tights have a pocket that keep the phone tight on your leg. The Cold Terrain tight adds a little warmth with the same pocket. Just wear a brief under to keep your junk in place. I have a pair of Surge tights from several years ago that have a little more warmth to them for those 20º runs and use those thigh pockets all the time for gels and keys. I don’t run with a phone, but the Gu Flask has stayed tight.
NYC Based company Wola Co makes a product for exactly this purpose. Compression shorts/pants that have waterproof phone pocket and a second pocket for keys/cards. Super high quality and very durable. I love them, wear their different products for almost all workouts.
I was just looking at these… do the running tights seem like you don’t need to wear shorts over them? I typically don’t… I just like to make sure I look like a dude in running tights, not a dude running around in his underwear.
Running Warehouse lists the dimensions of the pockets for most tights so you should be able to find one that works.
Yes, they are a thicker material and dont leave you exposed. Definitely dont have an underwear feel. They have gotten pretty big here in NYC the last couple years and you will see a lot of people running through Central Park and the West side highway in just them.
I just got these, they are tight but not tights. They are loose but don’t flap in the wind. Ran 12 in them two weeks ago never noticed my phone.

Did anyone try the tracksmith ones? I assume a lot of people had the coupon from Strava… I didn’t realize they had a pocketed one until too late.
I’m looking at the men’s Lululemon and tracksmith ones as potential new options
I have tried two pairs of these thights (short and full leg), they did not work out for me…they keep riding down. After several runs I gave them away to a friend and he had the same issue.
I have the Tracksmith tights and like them. It is a rear pocket and fits an iPhone 11 pro - very snug though. Would not fit the giant phones. These have a great wide elastic waist band and also like the fabric. Best tights I have owned.
I swear by these from 2XU. I also use the shorts version of these.

IMHO, the three pockets on the back should be mandatory on all shorts and tights, haha!!
I can carry a phone, ID, Auvi-Q, keys, $$, and never know they’re there.
I’m in California and I got them cheap from SigmaSports in the U.K. https://www.sigmasports.com/
2XU has a BOGO sale once in a while that isn’t bad, either.
ETA: Watch what you buy on Amazon. Some sellers are still selling the Gen 1 version, and the pocket is useless. The Gen 2 is where it’s at.
ETA2: FWIW, I’m 6’ 1’, 175lbs and the Large fit perfect. Not too tight, but no sagging either.
