Running tights for short people?

Anybody have a suggestion for running tights for short people. I’m 5’7" with a 28" inseam and small tights fit my waist and hips but I could sew the ends together and have some nice footie pajamas. I’m used to having to look around for pants, nobody has 32x28 pants on the rack, but there has got to be some tights with short legs somewhere. Knickers come down to my lower calf but I can’t find any without a pad. I’m not opposed to wearing women’s tights as long as they don’t have a fru-fru design or large logo that says “Running Chick” down the legs.

Lotion on my legs works down to about 40 degrees, but that just isn’t cutting it right now.

Yes! Bike shorts for tall people!

just buy some normal length ones and shorten them on a serger. Takes about 2min.
Or, start sewing your own, based on an adjusted pattern that fits you. Takes about 20min for a pair of tights and costs between $2-10 per pair. IMO time better spent than trying on endless tights that you know won’t fit anyway.

I have about a 28" inseam and I use whatever is available to fit the width of my legs and leave the rest scrunched up just above my shoes.

I currently am wearing Sugoi and Performance brands. The Sugoi’s are a little bit shorter. I think they are mediums or smalls.

Ha! Silly knigget, I fart in your general direction. I am 5’3" with a 29" inseam. Get use to lots of wrinkles.

And people want to call my running shoes ugly.

I have a bag of apples between my legs, please explain what a serger is. Is that like scissors?

A serger is a special sewing machine that cuts and sews at the same time.

I"d give women’s tights a try both Road Runner Sports and Athleta have some basic black tights/track pants that come in shorter lengths. I"m 5’3 and most women’s mediums are OK, sometimes a little scrunchy around the ankle.

OK, I’m a little embarrassed to be admitting this, but if it helps a fellow short-legged STer…

Target has some plain black women’s running tights that fit me well. I believe they are Champion brand. I’ve been running in them for a year (well, just the really cold mornings during the past year) and they’ve held up nicely. I like the zippered key pocket.

Long torso-ed people unite! To be completely honest, I’ve stumbled upon the answer. I was going to run with my boyfriend and forgot to bring pants so he let me borrow some of his Nike running tights (size Small) and they fit like a glove. I mean everything where it should be… the legs come down to right above my sport socks… not too loose, not too baggy. Perfect. So just out of curiosity, I tried on a couple of other pair and they fit too.

It seems that mens running tights (for the most part) are actually shorter than the women’s versions. Men tend to have longer torsos and women have longer legs. So you’re normal don’t worry. I’m the abnormal one…

Next time you’re in the Nike men’s department, try some on.

Knickers?

Naw, mostly whites here.

Knickers?

I have the perfect solution…DeSoto fleece running tights. I am in the same boat as you except I’m even shorter. These are awesome and your legs never get numb from being too cold.

Wiggas?

For light/mid-weight tights, try runningfunky.com. Their customer service is great, and you can get really cool patterns. They will make a custom inseam for you at no extra charge, but I’m 5’3" and their S/XS fit me just fine in the inseam.

You can get a decent serger/overlock for a couple hundred bucks at most sewing stores. All you need is a basic model that uses 4 threads to make the sort of stitch that is used to put together the sides of a T-shirt and most lycra gear. It’s really very simple to use, Im sure even someone with your inguinal condition could learn.

Beat me to it. I had a gf that tried on my running pants and they fit her. I’m 6’0" and she is 5’6". Pretty much the same inseam (I have a pretty long torso).

Oh my. The OP wants a pants that fits, not one that screams.

Yeah, I’ve already been shot with a BB gun when riding my bike. I don’t know what the local rednecks would do to me if I went out in a pair of “Cheeky Cheetah” tights.

What about run/bike shorts with a pair of leg warmers? I’ve never tried leg warmers but it seems to me they’d fall down all the time. This leads me to the Grampa Vick solution, leg warmers with sock gaters. Sexy as well as functional.

“inguinal”
I had to look that one up. Nicely put.

My mother in law probably has one, thanks for the suggestion. Although that means I have be nice to her to get it done.
