Looks like the extended forecast is showing lots of rain. Anyone have some good tricks for keeping your feet dry.
Unless it’s a downpour and you’re going to be running through standing water, I find that my feet stay pretty dry running in the rain on just wet pavement without doing anything special. If it’s a downpour, I run on my treadmill.

I find that running in the rain is one of life’s hidden pleasures. And, with my sweat rate, keeping my feet dry would be wasted effort.
if it rains, just embrace it. running in the rain is one of my favorite things, next to running in the snow.

can running in the rain give you a cold or increase your chances of getting one?..or make one worse if you already have one? Or is that an old wives tale to keep us men indoors…sneaky ho’s
Running in rain/cold can cause irritation in respiratory system (different than a cold). You need to be introduced to a virus to “catch” the cold. The irritation could increase your risk for infection if you are introduced to the virus, but exercise in general acutely weakens your immune system for a very short period of time leading to a brief “window of opportunity” for one to get sick immediately after. But that is short lived. I wouldn’t hesitate to run in rain/snow just be smart about clothing.
Go with it.
If you feet get wet, blame it on the rain
Bigger scam… LA or MV?
I did my first open 5K in the rain this year.
Well not really in the rain, it just poured for the two hours leading up to the race, so we were soaking at the starting line.
Even with the puddles, feet were not a problem at all.
However, as all my stuff got soaked, chafing was much more of an issue than normal. So if you have issues with that, be prepared.
I like to wear a ballcap in the rain to keep it off my face. When the rain isn’t actually hitting me in the face I can tolerate a lot more before heading inside to the treadmill.

This. It rained at IM Switzerland, and I was glad that I’d spent the summer training in Houston with sweat-drenched shoes, so that carrying the >1lb rain-drenched shoes didn’t seem any more difficult.

You get wet and then you dry off. Enjoy.

Couldn’t agree more.
Just saw Brooks came out with a training shoe with a Gore-Tex lining. Interesting indeed…
Have had some of my best running memories in the rain, though I’m also a fan of blizzard night running.
As long as you avoid stomping through puddles your feet will stay relatively dry depending on how bad it’s actually raining. Also stomping through puddles not advised if you’re running with a group.
suck it up…what if it rains while racing are you going to worry about keeping your feet dry then? Get out there and let the world know you’re a hard ass!

Good call.
No worries unless it’s raining hard in which I head to the pool! I always laugh when people comment “your going to swim in this weather?” I just look at them like their f$$king crazy and say “oh, your right, I may get wet. Shit, I didn’t think of that:))))”
Your feet will be wet…Glide on around and between the toes…an all other places you might not normally apply. Prepare like you are going for a 2.5 mile swim.

If you’re prone to/worried about blisters, pre-treat your feet with Hydropel.
