Running in 2xu compression tights/elite compression tights

It’s been cold enough lately that my bare legs have felt like ice on some longer runs. If I’m going to buy some running tights, I’m thinking I might as well get compression benefits at the same time. I don’t need/want a lot of warmth - I tried running in my cycling tights and quickly was too hot; I just need a little something over my bare skin.

Has anyone run say 10+miles in 2xu compression or elite compression tights? And if so, how did you like them?
Also if anyone has used both models, can you comment on the difference (other than the obvious sticker price)?

Thanks for your input! I have my 1st marathon in 2 weeks, thinking if the weather doesn’t warm up one of these might come in handy.

I’ve run a bit in Nike compression tights. Not the same as 2XU, I know, but I’ve noticed a real difference in temperature - my legs don’t seem to get nearly as gosh-darn cold as before. With the tights, I’ve never really noticed any compression benefit above my knees, but paired with my Zensah compression sleeves, my shins/calves stay nice and toasty while still reaping the (perceived) benefits of compression.

I’d definitely have you a pair for your marathon… you don’t want to be caught off guard for your first marathon if the temps dip really low. Also, make sure you get a few long training runs in what you plan on racing in. It will let you know if you will be comfortable for that distance in your new compression gear. Happy runnings!

How about 10+ miles in the heat of Kona in Oct??? Yes I love running in the 2xu tights. I also use them for the cold and they are money as well, although when things get really cold I switch to the Under Armour cold gear tights.

btw if you are looking for a good deal the check out wiggle. $100 for the elite ones with a pair of their really nice compression socks. I have used regular medical, sugoi, nike, craft an the 2xu socks they offer in this deal are the best of what I own and have tried. They have the non-elite ones for $80. There is also a thermal option. I have used both the thermal and regular ones, never the elite so I can’t comment on additional compression in elite. I tend to size myself down though with the socks and tights fyi…

I’ve ran in the eilte, normal and thermal 2XU compression tights. Didn’t notice much between the normal and elite ones, but if your in really cold weather then the thermal ones would be ideal. They are quite a lot thicker. Have also ran in skins and nike compression, and liked the 2XU tights far better. Hope that helps.

Thanks, everyone, for all the info!
I’ll go with the normal tights this go-round.
That’s a really great deal from Wiggle on the elites, too bad shipping to the states these days is so extremely slow (increased security measures, apparently).
Cheers, Cathy
