OK, I’ve been using Sony MDR-W08L headphones for running. As has been the case many time in the past, one side has developed static. In the past, this meant a trip to Amazon for a $10 replacement pair. BUT today, these headphones are >$40/pair since Sony has discontinued them. So…what’s the best replacement? I’ve tried the ‘wrap around the ear style’ - did not work so well for me, but maybe that is the model/vendor. Recommendations?
ipod headphones have worked for me for years, no problems.

I like these by jabra. They have wired ones also. I know you don’t like the wrap around the ear but for me, the other ones like the silicon bud type earphones, they fall out after a while from the sweat.
I can see maybe ones like the iphone may stay in regardless of sweat but I never tried.

I used regualr iPhone earbuds with yurbuds silicon covers on them for probably the last 2+ years. Worked fine. Though I started to tire of the wire constantly pulling around to my back. I wear an armband. Also recently I have found that the headphones don’t work as well. Tried multiple pairs. I think I just have sweat too much into the headphone jack. So just last week I picked up a Jaybird Bluebuds X. I have liked them. I also don’t like wrap around the ear style. You can wear these 2 different ways. I’ve actually found that I like them wrap around the ear style and they fit better in my ears that way.
I thought I was the only one still using those Sony headphones. They are great but I have to buy a couple pairs a year. At $10-$15 it wasn’t an issue. Since they were disco’d I converted to the Yurbuds. They get the job done. They stay in my ear but not as perfect as the Sony did. I occassionally have one fall out on a long run. Sound quality is actually not as good as the Sony but I haven’t gotten used to the different sound. I went for the lifetime warranty version as I seem to be fairly rough on my headphones.
I’ve a couple hundred quids worth of headphones/earbuds that I’ve tried and failed to use successfully.
Only things I can use while running are neckband style headphones, Sennheiser/Adidas PMX.

THIS!! I have the Jaybirds (2 years now) and love them, only problem is they don’t give you much warning when the juice is running low. My wife has never been able to find a headphone that she likes and recently bought some Yurbuds, she loves them.
Jaybird Bluebuds X are great! I’ve been using mine for about 9 months and I really like them. Good battery life and sound quality. Good luck!
I use Bose Sport SIE2 for running. They are also sweat proof too, which is nice and pretty durable. I haven’t had issues with them yet.

Sennheiser is pretty good and sweat proof. Comfortable and they offer both full wrap around the back of your head, as well as wrap around the ear.

Mine bit the dust after just 7 months. Hugely disappointing given the price.

Polk Audio makes some good “sport style” ones. Loud as f but good quality so you are ringing after listening to your “one song” for a few hours 
I had never been able to find earbuds that stayed in really well until these. They are amazing, and inexpensive on Amazon. They never fall out of my ear - literally never (unless I yank on them with my hand on accident or something).
Wait, all these responses and no one has said to not run with earbuds or you will likely die, or else miss the beauty and joy of running, or…
Anyway, I like the Panasonic cheap in ear ones. 1. They are cheap 2. They come with a variety of silicon ear pieces to help make them fit better
I do miss those over the head Sony ones.
