Running Backpack

What recommendations does everyone have for a backpack that works well to run with. I would probably mainly use it for commuting purposes, jogging to the pool, gym, etc.

Big enough to hold a swimsuit/towel, or a pair of extra clothes to change into. I way to hold a waterbottle in it would definitely be nice also.

Mainly needs to not swing side-to-side when running and be comfortable.

I have the Osprey Talon 22. I think it’s great. I use it to commute to the gym/groceries. I’ve done 3 mi two ways and had no problem.

If you strap it all up you can get to a point where you barely notice it. If you put more weight in it you’ll get a bit of a core workout depending on your stride, but all in all pretty good. The back is a big mesh vent so you don’t overheat. The pockets make sense too. It is important that it’s strapped down tight if its not full but any pack you get will need that.

+1 for the Talon, (although I have the 33) - used if for adventure races, commuting and general backpack duties… no complaints here.

Camelbak makes a bunch of options too. I have a M.U.L.E. that is more for bike/XC ski rather than run, but I’ve jogged with it without any problems and it has plenty enough room for swim gear, especially if the reservoir is empty. Their running-specific packs don’t have much room for clothes.

Check out the Brick Bag by Blueseventy, It has two waterbottle holders and is big enough to hold a towel/clothes/ ect, narrow enough to fit in a locker, and has two sets of buckles to keep it from bouncing and moving side to side while you wear it biking or running.
I use it to commute to open water swims and can squeeze my wetsuit, goggles, swimcap, and a transition towel inside aswell.

Camelbak do have a backpack called a Rim Runner and it holds a hell of a lot of gear.I’ve run with a compete change of clothes, small laptop, towel and all kinds of food over trails and road and it is great. It is my aircraft carry-on bag of choice as well as there are too many pockets and compartments for the security folks to be bothered checking…

Innov-8 make lovely lightweight running packs. Dunno if they are available in the UK. Also have an elegant hydration option which keeps the centre of gravity low.

I have the race pro 18 and it is super stable when running.

I have a Nathan Endurance vest. It is awesome. I use it for really long runs and trail ultras. I don’t know about a whole change of clothes and towel. It might be a bit small for that, but it rides like you are not wearing anything.

I have the nathan hpl 20. I have put a rolled up pair of pants and a tshirt in there, but that about maxes it out. It is however, awesome to run with and has been comfy on 20+ mile trail runs.

I commute with a Salomon XA 10+3 and I love it.
