Rudy Project WingDream Aero Test Results

Do we know if it will be available? No news about it from Abus and the Gamechanger 1.1 TT was not listed on their website or easy to find

Looks more like the Ekoi helmet. Just with a vent on front.

Canyon and Abus are close so maybe they asked her to wear the helmer instead of the Rudy.

Strange wording for something that is subjective.
Front on, it looks a lot more Rudy than Ekoi in my eye.
Ekoi visor is big but doesn’t seem to taper out towards the neck anywhere near a much as the other 2.

Will agree, the back part is more Ekoi. Definitely looks to have taken design cues from both.

Yeah, i have them both and indeed the Abus looks a like child of the Rudy and the Ekoi :-).

MVDP in the Abus in ItT

Rudy still giving the USAT 20% discount

Is there a way to get the discount without the USAT?

I have one for sale used for aero testing only. White S/M. Both visors.

I already purchased one, but what won it out? :joy:

My only gripe on the WD is the forward visibility. It does get hard and require me to regularly move the helmet up my forehead so I can see.

Also noticed the up draft on certain wind conditions. Usually an odd gust going down hill.

@wildh24 there is a adjustment inside the heat the rear that allows u to tilt it up or down to allow better visibility and go lower onto your back

Agree about the updraft, I reckon this is quite a issue for us normal folk that don’t/can’t stay aero for 180 k and might actually decrease the benefit of the luge helmet over a smaller one line the wing etc

I did adjust the cradle in the back and it helped some, but even so it’s still not great. That V shape in the middle is distracting. I can see fine on both sides, but the v/dip in the middle is a miss.

The draft is most apparent on a big head/cross wind. Most normal riding I don’t notice it, but if you get a big gust, it just want to lift.

It’s a great helmet otherwise.

The updraft you noted is a really odd feeling, I had only experienced it briefly until we had kinda a cross headwinds on lap 2 of the Keene descent, and after pouring rain at the end of lap 1 my helmet started really lifting up on the side facing the wind. Even with me really tucking my head and the visor practically touching my forearms. I think having the helmet tighter would’ve helped a little, but the air was definitely still getting under there and I was pushing down the helmet as much as I could. I’ve heard from others that happened with the POC tempor with the flare outs around the shoulder, so it might just come with the territory of that shape

I really want this helment, but it’s only available in black right now. I race and train a lot in hot and humid conditions (think south eastern US and Southeast Asia). Am I over thinking the impact of black on the helmet?

I read somewhere (thought it was in this thread, but I can’t find it) that the internal temperature of the helmet was essentially unchanged by the color. But as I cannot find where I found that information, I suppose to take it with a grain of salt

That has 100% been tested before and there was no difference.

Thanks! Time to use the USAT20 code…

Don’t be so quick to debunk intuition.

Yes, the helmets have some degree of insulation, but also yes, over time that heat will make a difference. Here’s a test with coolers with ice on the inside:

Over time, internal temps in the black get warmer and warmer. Black coolers were as much as 10 degrees warmer inside at the hottest part of the first day.

I see no reason why these results wouldn’t carry over to a helmet at least in some small part.
