he actually talked about doing a test where we covered it with painters tape. We’d ben out there for ~ 3.5h though and it was getting hot since…well…Tucson in the summer
If Lionel’s legs are 12w, that is 15 right there.
I thought that Specialized showed more than a decade ago that a full beard was less than 1w
I suspect it’s going to be dependent on the beard and the person
Lol, ok maybe not in that case. With a beard like that, I’d also worry about the swim
Can anyone comment on the Wing Dream’s ability to accommodate large heads?
I’m currently using the Aerohead v1 in part due to the fact that other helmets simply didn’t fit on my head.
My previous helmet was also the aerohead for the same reason as yours, I gave it a try on the wingdream and it fits very nicely with no discomfort.
Looks like Mathieu Van Der Poel has also chose to be on the Wingdream as well for time trial. From what I can tell, the team is free to choose their TT helmet since the Abus Gamechangers is supplied by Canyon and Abus isn’t actually a helmet sponsor of the team.
I am also a size L and it fits great. Their road helmets in L are almost too tight for me,
I also had my first ride on the WingDream last week, and I was hoping for a better first impression.
There is a fair amount of positive:
- Airy
- Peripheral vision is amazing
- Great amount of space behind the visor
However, so far for me the showstopper is front visibility.
Must be related to the size/shape of my head as well as a relatively low front position since most people seem OK with it.
I need to have it high on my head, adjustment to the smallest setting (I do have a small head circ.) to get a clear field of view forward - but riding w the cracks and vibrations it keep riding down and in my field of view requiring constant adjustment.
The fact the visor is far out front (deep edge above the eyes) must be the biggest factor here.
Also I have to say, the magnetic clasp is not a great design. I find it finicky to engage and release (easier to release). Would need acclimation in T1.
In comparison my Ekoi training helmet is super easy to engage (get it close by it snaps in place) and release (one hand/2 fingers in a natural motion).
I do want to give it a few more trials, maybe test with creative placement of padding inside the helmet to position it better for front visibility, then aero test against my RP TheWing.
Anyone else had that issue and was able to overcome it?
If you haven’t already, make sure to adjust the plastic strap on the top of your head. I believe it has three click positions and can adjust the head circumference up to an inch then fine tune with the back of the head dial.
I was able to overcome the issue by pushing the vertical adjustment all the way up (into the helmet). This allowed me to keep the helmet tilted back a bit and tight enough without slipping forwards over my forehead.
