My sunglasses that I use for everything broke and need to get new ones. They were not the best, but this time around I want to get good ones. I have read and seen a lot about Rudy Project sunglasses and I think being a USAT member, we get a discount with Rudy. Also…they are running this deal (link below) so I might be able to get a new helmet too.
I need to find a local Rudy Project dealer but before I do, does anyone here use their helmets and/or sunglasses that can give me their 2 cents? If you use their products, would you go back and do it all over again or look elsewhere? I like the fact that they have interchangable lenses which can be good for sunny or overcast race conditions.
I would look no further than Rudy for both glasses and helmet! They are great values, and perform flawlessly. The one thing I like most if the adjustability of the glasses. Having long eyelashes, almost every brand is too close to my eye, and the inside of the lenses smudge. You can adjust them close, or further away through flexible eyepiece, and also rid the fogging issues during hot summer days. They are the best IMO, and I have 4 helmets and 5 glasses to show for that! Tried others, and ended up selling them to buy more Rudys!

I absolutely love my Rudy Project Genetyk sunglasses. They’re so light and provide such a huge field of vision that they’re barely noticeable on my face. I believe the ~$200 I spent was the best investment I’ve ever made in eyewear. I’ve had my sunglasses for a couple of years now. I have used the $20 mail lens-replacement policy only once and it was a painless process. I recently dropped my sunglasses and got a few more scraches, so I’m about to get another lens replacement.
I was using Oakley’s before and they work great too.
It took a long time, but I finally sprung for a pair of Oakley polarized sunglasses. I have not seen their equal in performance or price yet. They are one of those things that I actually think you get what you pay for, and you are not paying for the frames so much…those lenses are expensive! The hydrophobic coating works pretty good too for summer sweat on the bike. I have NOT tried Rudy Project glasses, so they may be fantastic, but I definitely would recommend Oakley.
I have both - have used Oakley m-frames, Hal jackets, flak jackets and racing jackets. Also have used Rudy Project Noyz and Rydons.
Rudy’s seem to hold up better long term - I have noticed that the frames on my Oakley seem to flake their paint. Rudy’s have not done so. The lens might be better on the Oakley, but only just. The photochromic lenses on the Rudy’s changes faster and gets darker.
Oakleys sell easily when you want new glasses.
I really like the racing jackets for riding, because they sit close to my face and leave no gaps for bugs and/or dirt when on my mtb. They fog when running, presumably for the same reason. Rudy’s are, without a doubt, the best running glasses I’ve had, with the rydons seeking out a win over the noyz.
Oh, and I had one of the helmets - sterling I think - fit was good, considering how big my head is, I was impressed. one of the kids dropped it and broke a buckle - could not see how to replace the buckle, and got a new helmet.
Rudy Project has been my sunglass & helmet of choice for at least a half dozen years, now. Having used other brands of both, I can make comparisons and say that I’ve no qualms about switching to Rudy Project. They make a great product but also have excellent customer & warranty service available, should it be needed.
With that said, I do not believe the USAT discount can be used in conjunction with the free helmet offer – but you’ll never know until you ask.

I happened to test a pair of Rudy’s and Smiths on an optical clarity tester in an Oakley demo van. I tested them both against Oakley and they were basically all the same and much better than the junk sunglasses they had there for comparison. Rudy puts out some good quality lenses.
I went from Oakley to Rudy Project for my sunglasses and gave them a shot for about a year. I kept going back to my old Oakleys as they were way more comfortable. I’m sure the RP glasses are high quality, but I eventually just went and bought a new pair of Oakleys and in my book there’s no comparison. I’ll keep the RPs as emergency glasses, but I’m shocked I stuck with them for so long.
I have been an Oakley user for many many years, and last fall bought Rudy Project to give them a try. I think they are more comfortable than the Oakleys (RP has soft flexible nose piece compared to the rock hard nose piece in the particular Oakleys that I have). However, I give the RP a failing grade with regard to fogging. I’ve never had issues with fogging on the Oakleys, but I’m having severe fogging issues with the RP. The fogging is so bad I can’t wear the RP any more on 5am bike rides on summer mornings.

Which Oakleys? My half jackets & flak jackets were so comfortable I could easily forget I was wearing them. The nose piece on the RPs were downright painful!

Which RP sunglasses were giving you fogging issues? I have not had any fogging issues with my RP Genetyk sunglasses.
I use both Helmets and sunglasses by Rudy and I am very satisfied with both. Only once I had fogging issues with my glasses, not sure what caused it that day, but in every other case they have been perfect. I use their Revenge model. For helmets I have both, a Wingspan for my aero helmet and a Sterling for road. They are both extremely comfortable and provide lots of options for adjusting them.
Rudy Project incorporates fully-adjustable (ie. bendable) nose pieces into all of their sport models.
This feature allows the user to customize the fit of the eye wear, specifically to their face size/shape.
More to the point of this thread, this feature allows the user to mitigate fogging by pinching the nose piece together, which will create separation between the face and lens - allowing the inside of the lens to “breathe” better. This is the most effective way to mitigate fogging for any eye wear (create separation between the face and the lens).
*Most Rudy Project sport models also have fully-adjustable temple arms, as well.
Thanks for the info. I typically adjust the nose piece, but maybe I forgot the day I had the issue. Regardless, like I said before I love your products.

Pretty much same experience here. Long time Oakley user, have tried several other brands including RP in hopes of finding a more affordable brand, and always keep coming back to Oakley.
I’m a die-hard Rudy wearer for my helmets. Had a bad crash a few years ago in which I seriously should have had some major brain issues. Landed on the back of my head & my pelvis, cracked through the Rudy in 3 places clean through the styrofoam. I didn’t even have a concussion. An earlier crash of equal speed - pile-drived myself into the ground head/shoulder first racing in college. Also cracked through the helmet in one or two places & shattered my collarbone into 4 pieces. That one did rattle my brain a bit but I still bounced & can still walk.
I wear a pair of frameless glasses to race in as well & aside from being kind of fragile, they’ve been through a good mess as well & survived.
I don’t know that I’ll ever even consider another helmet.

I’ve had some Rudy Project glasses (and my team got a deal on some Rudy project road helmets), but I prefer Oakley’s by a long shot. The styling of RP sunglasses just isn’t up to par. Oakleys, to me, look WAY better. I have no complaints about my RP helmet though.
