I know there is a trick to do this, and I am not sure how anyone is pulling it off. I have “heard” about it, but I have not seen it. Can anyone take a minute to set it up and take a picture and show me. I would appreciate it. I would love to shave 5 seconds off my transition time, and this would help. I already use body glide and all that-no socks, and have my transitions down, but I still put on my shoes before I ride. I think this would be great to see.
thanks in advance
i would look into clipless pedals pie pequeno…
if not try using magic…
I think this was posted, so others may do it differently, but here is how I used to do it. I don’t have a picture, but I found that after I did this enough, I no longer needed the rubber bands.
Step 1 Clip in your shoes ( I use Tri vents, w/t the velcroe open and loose… and I also put just a bit of body glide on the heal of the shoe.)
Step 2 rotate your cranks so they are parallel to the road, then loop your rubber band through the heal loop on your shoe and connect it either to your wheel skewer or some place that is close depending on the length of your rubber band.
step 3 connect the front shoe with a rubber band I use a long rubber band that I have in the office and loop it to the seat tube… (some don’t loop this one at all) then once you start to peddle the bands break. No problems… just build enough momentum and slip your feet into your shoes.
Last year some parishoners came to the church and caught me in my full tri gear timming my transitions in the empty parking lot I have no idea what they thought, but they were laughing there butts off… ohh well who cares? Practice your transitions a few times and you will get them down and once they click for you, you wont really need to practice them anymore unless a second or two is going to be important.

Last year was my first attempt at the leaving shoes clipped in. I was able to get away with doing so w/out the rubberband and just making sure the cranks were parallel with the ground when I racked my bike. (i do always make sure to tighten the tension a little on the pedals pre-race) Did this in 8 races last year and never had a problem with shoes coming out before the bike mount line…
thanks!
