Roval clx 64 hubs feel sluggish?

My clx 64 hubs feel super tight when I turn them by hand. They seem to roll fine when I spin them on the bike. I’ve never had another hub feel like this. The 40mm rovals are silky smooth, as are zipps, DT Swiss, bontrager, etc.

The 64s seem to have so much drag, but that makes no sense on a wheel this expensive. The 3 or 4 sets I’ve checked out were all the same.

They have about 400-500 miles on them. I was hoping they would feel normal after break-in, but they haven’t changed.

Does anyone else have a set with this same issue? Do you think it is causing any loss of speed? Is there any explanation as to why these hubs should feel this way?

I have the CLX 64s, and mine don’t feel that way, though they probably have almost 1,000 miles on them by now. They are DT Swiss internals, so pretty reliable. They might slightly overtighten them at the factory to prevent play later on, but you can loosen them up a touch. When you tighten the skewers you also tighten them up slightly, so best to have them slightly loose.
