Just an FYI, with the announcement today that Rouvy reverse engineered the Zwift clics I tried it out and virtual shifting works fine (I tried with the new Victory trainer and using the Apple TV Rouvy).
Hopefully this means the Z controllers are not far behind and other platforms can take advantage of the technology.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Zwift reverse-reverse engineers this to ‘break’ the Rouvy compatibility as DCRainmaker says it wasn’t a mutually agreed upon update.
No if only rouvy companion app worked like zwift for those using apple tv. Because with out the companion app there isn’t enough Bluetooth connections for virtual shifting

Depending on the trainer. With the newer ones like the Jetblack, it bridges everything into a single signal and frees up a BT slot. I used the Zwift click for virtual shifting in Rouvy on my Apple TV
So would this be a way to do more silent shifting? i.e. less chain wear too?
Stays same cog in real world, but adjusts virtually? Makes it harder, easier?
I do a lot of hills; but bike doesn’t have a compact… so instead of changing real life cog; this can add gears more or less?
Yes, the virtual shift is completely silent as there is zero lateral chain movement, only change in resistance.
I love it on Zwift where the default setup is 24 gears (spread over a normalish range). So it goes as low if not slightly lower than a compact, and all the way up so you’re not spinning out even on fairly big downhills.
Honestly, the virtual shifting was probably the single biggest meaningful upgrade in terms of hardware/software I’ve made since I started with Zwift years ago, it’s been that good. No weird errant-between position gears due to small diffences with the Kickr cassette and your regular cassette, and enough gear range to tackle anything even the steepest of the Zwift guest world mountain climbs.
If you’re on zwift as well, controlling erg% with the play controllers or the click is equally game-changing. I’ve tried adjusting erg mode% with the keyboard or mouse, and it’s just too annoying compared to the controllers. Has greatly improved the quality of my erg workouts, as I don’t hesitate now to amp it up when I’m feeling good, or turn it down if I need to.
While I’m pretty sure the Zwift click virtual shifting doesd not require the cog (the cog just makes it easier to mount/unmount bikes), I think the last time I checked, you couldn’t buy the click without the cog, but you should look.
Correct theres is no tech at all in the cog - I would try to messge support and see if they will sell the click seperately. imagine if you had multiple bike or just wanted clicks in multiple spots
I couldn’t get it to work with the Zwift Hub. Pretty sure I had everything connected. Gears showed and changed but brought no change in resistance. Upon reading their site, it does not list the Hub as a compatible trainer. But that seems very odd, too. It does list the Ride.
I think they said they are working on testing more trainers an making them compatible. the zwift hub im pretty sure was just a white labeled jet black trainer, while the zwift ride is wahoo. That might explain why its not working with the hub yet
I checked the Zwift site. They will only sell the clicker device if you buy it in combination with the cog. Apparently, they used to sell the clicker device as a standalone accessory for half the price of the combo - about $40. Not now. Currently, no standalone clicker devices seen for sale when searching on Ebay, BikeTiresDirect, Colorado Cyclist, Performance, etc.
