was normann ever in for roth? i thought he was racing imgermany in frankfurt. i think they’re intentionally staying away from each other until kona.
Could be wrong but I don’t recall him ever confirming he was in. Macca in his own mind probably thinks he (Normann) still has something to prove…go figure. Regardless, the mens field for Roth is crazy deep…if someone like Justin Granger is 20th seed, then you know the competition’s sh*t hot (with or without Normann). Macca will be pushed hard, but i think he’ll take it…the guy’s a winner. Amazing that a race like this, with this field, gets next to no airtime here…unreal.

Love Macca (got to stand right next to him at St. Anthonys) but Normann is THE MAN. This is multisport and what Normann did at Kona last year impressed me to no end. He was in front from almost the start of the bike and nobody could catch him. Until Macca can be out front for almost the whole day, I don’t want to hear it. Maybe it’s because I’m a cyclist that tris, but I think Normann has it, dominating the only part of our sport where you “can’t” draft (I understand that there is little ability to draft on the run because of the low speeds) and then running from out front well enough to beat someone who considers himself maybe the best runner in triathlon.

With a field this deep and the challenge that Macca threw down after IMH, one would expect Stadler to step up…unless he thinks he can’t win!?
I think mind games will be a factor. with macca’s awesome run leg, stadler may go too hard on the bike in an attempt to build an insurmountable lead
