I just installed a new Rhino Rack roof rack and with the Road Warrior bike carrier. I usually run a Flo90 on the back and the strap that came with the carrier doesn’t fit. I’ve emailed Rhino Rack to see if they have a longer strap, but I was wondering if anyone has found any other good, secure solutions. Thanks in advance!
I have a Thule rack and a Flo 90 - my old Thule rack the strap didnt fit so i used two velcro straps from Home Depot. They were very inexpensive ones may be a couple bucks each. Used them on 800 mile trips on highways with high speeds never once was there an issue of the strap coming off. I would have been fine with one strap used 2 for piece of mind.
Surly Junk Strap- basically a SUPER long toe strap that you can cut to length if you don’t need all the length. Very reliable and what I use for my Aero wheels and fat bikes.
Thanks, guys. I heard back from Rhino Rack and they do not make a longer strap. I picked up some velcro straps for $5 at the hardware store and well give that a shot. My temporary solution was to let all of the air out of my tire which allowed it to fasten. I’m hoping the velcro does the trick!

For the record, we do not recommend supporting anything by the carbon fairing on our Aluminum + Carbon wheels. The fairing is not a structural component. You risk damaging the bond by exerting forces in that area. Our full carbon clincher wheels will not have the same issue.
Take care,
I had the same problem with the Thule Side arm and my Hed Jet 9. I found heavy duty tie-wraps the best bet, drove from NYC to Mont Tremb. with my bike on the roof, no issues and the wraps are cheap at electrical supply shops.
I cut an approximately 270 deg. section out of an old tire and riveted a hook on one end and a strap on the other. The old tire section fits over the top of the tire on the aero wheel and gets attached to the tray in front of and behind the contact patch. This holds the rear wheel securely down without touching the rim at all. The only difficulty is threading it through the brake bridge/bottom bracket area. I could see it being a problem with a tightly fared aero frame. Before that, I just transported the bike with a cheap trainer wheel on the back and the aero wheel got to ride in the car.
I have HED 90 rear wheel that I use with a roof top carrier. I use a longer velcro strap over original carrier strap and the carbon fiber fairing only tight enough to keep strap from beating up the fairing. To secure the rear end of the bike I use bungee cords to the rear skewer going under the roof top carrier or I use a bungee from just above the bottom bracket (intersection of seat tube and down tube) and connect it to the bike carrier.
I would not want to crack the faring on my race wheel when there are other options to secure the back end without clamping down the the wheel fairing itself.
