Roll Call: National Capital Tri - Ottawa

Just wondering if any ST’ers are doing the National Capital Tri http://www.somersaultpromotions.com/eventnationalcapital.htm this weekend?
Ewan

Bump, I know the Kingston Tri is the same weekend but there must be a couple ST’ers doing the National Capital. Ewan

I would love to be racing. It is only a 45 min warmup ride from my house. However, I owe my family payback for all my racing and training camp silliness in June and July. I’ll be taking them up to Mont Tremblant for the weekend. There is a half Ironman closeby in St. Agathe, and as tempting as it is to race their with Johnnyo, this is supposed to be a non racing weekend, so I better not even risk throwing in the race wheels. I do however have the green light to train as much as I want…

Trust me…it is painful to have all these races going on (Kingston, Ottawa, Ste. Agathe) and sit on the sidelines and “watch”

Dev

Dev- that sounds like a good plan, Tremblant is a amazing place(winter and summer).
This will be my second race this summer, with my “A” race being the Canadian HIM. I usually do a fall marathon (Cumberland) but I ran in the NCM this spring, so I think I would like to give your Zofingen at try.
Congrats on your Kona slot!
Ewan

I might have to move up the Cdn Zofingen training event by a week and have it on the weekend of Sep 23rd. Good luck this weekend.

i m not very good with my english but dosn it mean that you can register for the event and PARTICIPATE with me to the half ironman and bike and run side by side and no sprint to the finish… to me, it s sounds like a great training and you arent having your race wheels ON so it s definitly not racing for you…just training!!!

Done deal!!! see you sunday

Nope. Doing Kingston. Will be in Ottawa for the long weekend though.

I could end up hopping on my bike from the Tremblant condo with my wetsuit and running shoes in the backpack, show up at Ste. Agathe and return from my “long ride” 7 hours later…as for keeping up with Johnnyo, this will not happen. The reality is that if I enter a race, I either want to do it properly, or not at all, so you might see me out riding on the bike course giving out smack to those that are dogging it

What time does the Ste Agathe half start?

Dev

8 am!!! yeah…you deserve a bit of recovery actully!!! enjoy it!

If you’re thinking about doing a half 2 weeks after LP then you must not have gone hard enough on the 23rd and your new PB is soft so we’ll expect a much faster time in Kona

I ran for an hour yesterday in this crazy 35C weather and my legs are still fried. I’m glad (sort of … ok not really) that I’m missing K-Town for the first time in 7 years this weekend. I do plan on getting out for a solid test ride of my new bike that I’m getting fitted on today. I signed up for the Cobourg race on August 13th so hopefully I’ll be into sprint mode by then.

Allen, I won’t race this weekend. I’ll go out and cheer on Johnnyo. The rest of August, I am either travelling for work or I have my son’s birthday, or the year end soccer tournament for the kid’s team I coach, so although there is a race on every weekend, I will have to wait for Sep for the Canadian Half and Esprit Half!

As for going too easy at LP you are correct. I was barely moving for the first 16 miles at LP. Once my stomach settled, I then started running 7-7:45 miles!

I’m in, doing the Olympic Tri. I’m Ottawa born and bred, coming home from the big smoke to lay a hometown smackdown. I hope these Somersault run events are well organized!

blair

That is cool, please keep us posted if you do change the date.
Ewan

Somersault events seem to well run ,although I have only ever competed in Somersault events so I don’t have much to compare too ;-). I really enjoyed the Ottawa Riverkeeper this June. Both off these events (National and Riverkeeper) have conflicted with larger races (Muskoka and K-town) so I think this has kept the numbers down.
Lets hope the weather cools down for the weekend!

Can’t wait to see your new Blue tri bike. Keeping the old one or ebaying it? We’re giving Coburg a pass this year.

DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT TRAINING THIS WEEKEND!!! You owe it to Roxanne and Brandon to devote an entire weekend to them. Besides, if you take two days off you will lose fitness and I will gain on you, as Jean and I will be hammering each other in G. Park. We will hammer at the Canadian 1/2 IM on September 2.
