Roka prescription sunglasses

Looking at getting some new rx sunglasses. Had Oakley Flak 2.0 for three years now and been pleased but rx has changed and getting new glasses. Does anyone have any experience with the Roka TL-1 sunglasses? Fit, weight, lens quality?

I’ve had the Roka Falcon Alloy with single lens perscription for a few years now. Use them for all my rides and runs, training and racing.

Love them. Lightweight, comfortable and durable. They’ve never fallen off my face and so far no sign of any degradation.

I have a different pair. So far so good, they have even been through the washing machine one with no ill effects (they were in a pouch in the back of my kit). I also have a pair of the regular glasses. I thought that the shipping was a little longer than it probably should have been, but the customer service has been pretty decent overall.

this has been explored a bit editorially by us here. i buy my own glasses, i just go to the website and order them up. here is what i wrote about their progressive lenses. this is what i had to go through before they offered progressives. here is what jordan rapp wrote about them for desk jobs and i am in that same position. as i’m writing this i’m wearing a clear hunter.

oddly, counterintuitively (for me), i find i like the lighter frames (like the hunter) for desk work, and the more robust frames for performance. The Kona is my go-to, and the Barton is fine. I use the Kona with progressives for stationary riding, treadmill running, for driving my car (i have progressives in tinted and clear, for both day and night driving). they will not come off your face while riding or running.

the halsey is a middle ground. very vuarnet-like. i have a halsey on deck, for when my kona gives way. but i’ve had my kona for more than 2 years, everyday use, and it hasn’t failed yet. but that’s the frame i’m talking about. that progressive lens was put in by a boutique optician. so, i can only comment on the performance and longevity of the frame, not the progressive lens.

one thing, tho, i don’t ride a bike outdoors with eyewear. i’m pretty weird that way, but there you go. i don’t ride or run outdoors with eyewear. only indoors. so, i can’t comment on whether the frame impedes vision while riding.
