Why would you say that? Even the most highly respected actors who are film snob favorites do lots of roles in pop films like this. Heck, there were 4 or 5 Oscar winners/nominees in Batman Begins.
I guess Downey could be like William Hurt, who turned down a role in Jurassic Park because it was below him (apparently he was holding out for Lost in Space).

Where’s Jessica Alba!!! Ohwaitaminute, that was FF4. Well, this one looks to be 10x better and RD Jr. looks to have been a good choice for the role.
