The padding. CX uses a higher-density padding. I prefer the CX from my limited time on it (versus extensive experience on a “regular” Arione). The CX is a wonderful saddle. What I do NOT like about the Arione’s (both CX and non-CX) is that they have a center stripe, which means seams. I prefer the Arione CX braided because it has a seamless cover. But if your seatpost can’t take braided rails, you are SOL…

In my experience in addition to the issue with the seams the center “panel” of the Arione standard wears rapidly. The braided does better. Its worth switching seatposts to use the braided saddle.
