Road Fox Wheels

Has anyone ever heard of / seen this brand of wheels? They seem ridiculously cheap, just curious if your truly getting what you pay for in this case?

I have heard of them yes… excellent product that can be supported by the huge following we have. These wheels are put together in the USA and have been tried and tested by local athletes that would and have testified to the true value. On the website at the top there is a link to our Facebook page. Feel free to ask questions on that forum of people that have actually used the wheels and raced on them. Do they sound cheap?.. absolutely… are they cheap?.. absolutely… do they perform to the degree of expectation and withstand the test of time… absolutely.
If you want to drop a huge amount of coin on carbon wheels I won’t be stopping you but if you can get the same amount of advantage and performance from a set that costs half the money then why wouldn’t you at least take a look. The average athlete also has the 2.5 kids and works hard for a living to pay the household bills. Spending upward of $1500 on a pair of lightweight wheels is in some cases out of reach.
I understand that you could view this price as being cheap but why don’t you change the way you look at things and view the others as being expensive. The manufacture cost of carbon is really not that expensive… its actually probably lower than the cost of aluminum rims… so why does it need to be expensive?
Feel free to drop me a line or call me if you need more information or you want to test the wheels… I’m out at a lot of events around the NY and MA area. The contact numbers are all on the website.
Many thanks and happy racing !!
Andy

tbh they “look” like the generic chinese rims, the TT frame is definitely on a thread about chinese carbon on these pages somewhere…

for the frame, assuming the wheels came from somewhere similar

Earl Dinky and road fox are you2 guys one and the same? Was this a act of self promoting ones business on tbis site without wanting to pay for ad space? Seems both you guys poopped up out of nowhere.
“I was expecting would my sister look good in this?” somewhere in your post

May be a good call.

I will say that I had a buddy show up at a race with these. They looked fine enough. Other than the graphics, which I really hope can be removed. He seemed to be satisfied with the performance. FWIW

After a friend from my former triathlon club in Upstate NY got Roadfox carbon wheels 60/88 and PR in all his races, I bought my first pair and have been averaging 1-2 mph faster while training for an IM. Thank goodness for people who enjoy building bikes and wheels and not having to gouge them.

Wow isn’t that a koinkydink your first post comes to fan the flames of fiRefax wheelsets for maximum speeda gains of racing! j

I have nothing to do with Road Fox Wheels, I was asking an honest question. I’m looking for a set of race wheels and a member of my Tri Club found their web site. I could not find any reviews for them on-line so I asked for information on here. I’ve been a long time reader of this forum, but never posted before.

Tigerpaws…Loser! Change your user name again.

I sturggle with engrish I am part of zimbabweean cycling club do roadfaxes sponsore elite serengheti riders we need help for 2013 tour of frances application. i have equal trade for you company we make custom meat helmets for bobsledding team which also for biking in aero shapes!

All I wanted to know if anyone had actually ridden these wheels, $600 is a lot to drop if they last one season. The answer from Road Fox does me no good since he’s obviously self promoting, was hoping for a un-biased opinion.

If you have not looked at FLO they certainly have a lot of happy customers so far and on the same price point. It’s not a well greased delivery system yet, but I think the overall reception has been pretty solid. ST can be a pretty tough crowd and from my chair if I could get my hands on some FLO’s I’d jump.

Not to hijack, but the Flo’s come out to 900 for the set where the Road Fox are 500. Unless I’m reading it wrong.

I bought a pair after meeting Andy at a local convention. I’m training for Lake Placid Ironman and was looking for any advantage on the bike portion. I have had the wheels about 2 months and have ridden them daily. My biggest concern was would the wheels support my heavy weight. I am a large clydesdale, 275lbs. So far so good. I done climbs and fast decents on them and they have given me no problems.

No way could I afford Zipp Max’s. My wife would kill me and I wasn’t confident buying on ebay. Luckily for me, Andy is close to me as I live in Upstate NY.

For under $600 I was willing to take a chance on Roadfox and so far so good. Andy is great at getting back to you if you have questions.

You are right my bad…I have in my head ‘sub grand’ wheelsets so that’s what I called the same ball park.

Checked out the Flo’s, seems to be a company with some good reviews, however they seem very back logged. Signed up for their next production run, will probably buy a set unless I find something else first.

wow. those are some pretty good prices. their margin must be really low. I talked to a few factories directly through alibaba about getting wheels and the prices came out to right around there. and with a 12 month money back guarantee… hmm, maybe i’ll grab a pair and take them down on a nice long descent and see how they do!

with fairly attractive decals, it seems like a pretty good deal to me. I’ve owned sram, zipp, reynolds, gigantex and planet x wheels and i’d guess these are exactly like the px wheels which felt great.

The biggest downside though is their weight. these wheels are not light!

I can not find fron twheel only pricing… I wonder if someone here could chime in on where I could find this.

yea i just scrolled through and couldn’t find that either. just rear wheels and sets. maybe they would work with you if you contact directly?

My margins are just fine thanks… The only thing I buy in is the spokes and hubs… and this I buy in at larger quantities. With margins up around the 40% mark I have no complaints.

Because they are cheap doesn’t mean they come from China. Having said that… I’m sure you realize that some of the ‘not so cheap’ offerings do come from China. Take some time to review my website and actually read what it says instead of looking at the pretty pictures.

With regards to the decals… its very difficult finding a design to please everyone. I will say though that if you have a design you like (not another brand name) I will be happy to put these on your wheels at no extra cost. I actually thought the decals looked okay but then again I’m more interested in performance than looks.

On the frames… you do realize that it is possible to make a mold from anything?.. If you have the skills and the tools anything is possible.

Like I said before… cheap doesn’t mean that quality should suck… it can also mean that someone isn’t being greedy.

Enjoy
