Road BIke Wheel Recommendations

If you needed to buy a new wheel set for a road bike what would it be? It will be used for riding and racing. I’m in Colorado, so there will be climbing. It is replacing a 38mm depth wheel set. I’m middle of the road for costs. I’d prefer to stay below $3000. Definitely will be Tubeless, but would prefer hooked rims. (No judging here). Will ride 25-30mm tires. I do road racing and a few crits.

What does ST recommend?

Rim brake compatible or disc brake compatible?

Kinda feel like some Reserve 42/49 or 52/63’s with DT Swiss hubs would be pretty great for all of those scenarios. I’ve run both 30’s and 32’s on mine and they fit and feel great. Had a pretty good warranty experience with Reserve as well. Well under your budget too.

Should have said Disc.

I’d be pretty intrigued by the new farsports evo c5. 1270g, steel spokes, $1600 usd, hooked rims and reasonably wide. Magene has a similar wheelset as well. I’m also a huge fan of wheels with no spoke holes on the rim bed.
