Road bike tires

What’s everyone running for tires these days? My GP5K S TRs are getting long in the tooth and due for replacement. Previous set was Pirelli P Zero Race, didn’t like them as much as the contis.

Why are road tires so damn expensive? $95 for a single tire just seems wrong.

I’ve been really happy with my hutchinson’s blackbirds - these have been very reliable and fast training tires with a great pricepoint.

A bit faffy to seat upon tubeless set-up (I’ve got to “bounce” while simultaneously inflating - thank you air compressor reservoir - to get it to seat), otherwise great all rounder.

Tubed or tubeless? I think the Vittoria Corsa Pros may be among the fastest tubeless and super comfortable.

Tubeless dog, tubes are for floating down rivers on.

Been several years since I road Vittoria road tires, the older corsa pros held up pretty well for me.

I really like the new corsa pros, but they are noticeably thinner than the conti tires, with about the same rolling resistance. Gotta wonder if the vittoria tires would be faster on rough roads, but they’re definitely less puncture resistant

Challenge Criterium RS are my new road tire of choice. Very nice ride
Excel has a killer deal on them now

As per BRR, the wet grip of their compound is very bad. They seem to roll fast though

I’ve been riding Conti GP 4/5K for years both tubed (latex) and tubeless and they have been good to me but now I’m ready to try something different. I bought a pair of tubeless Corsa Pros (28s) and will try racing them Sunday. Hope they are as fast as the reviews and that with sealant they will withstand any minor puncture!

If its not too late, put extra sealant in them. I had some issues with small punctures early on trying them, and it seemed like the casing soaked up most of the first 1.5 oz of sealant i put in. I’d probably add another 1.5 oz or so (45 mL) before your race if you can

I think the world tour pros are racing the Corsa Pros on Roubaix, if that makes any difference.
