Road bike rental in Germany

Hi,

In august, we are travelling to Germany for a 2 weeks trip… I have been looking for bike rental company for a while and couldn’t find any decent road bike to rent … the only bikes i can find are mountain bike, touring/trek bike and such …

Searching on google.de wasn’t better too … so the quesiton is, anyone on the forum managed to find a shop who rent nice roadbike ?? (alu or carbon…i don’t care) … it can be near stuttgart, fussen/mittenwald or Munich …

Just found a hint on German board that this shop is renting roadbikes, but don’t nail me on that, about 50km southeast of Stuttgart.

What specifically are you looking for? Sizes, types, etc.

There are some smaller shops throughout those areas that do not have websites but may rent bikes. Knowing what you are looking for may help persons local to identify whether or not certain shops would be worth contacting.

For me: i fit on a 58 cm or 60 cm (i have a cannondale superxi 60 cm )
Girlfriend: she will fit on a 52 or 54 … (she have a Specialized Tamarac 54 cm )

Don’t know whether they rent for longer periods but Specialized has two concept stores in Munich:

I used to live in Munich and as such I never had to rent a bike.
I am pretty sure though that you can find something. Munich has a large number of bike stores (“Fahrradgeschäft”).

if you search for bike rental look or ask for “Fahrradverleih” (German for “bike rental”).

Thanks for the info, ‘‘Fahrradverleih’’ worked much better in google than ‘‘road bike rental’’ haha !..

As soon as i find something, i will post the infos here on the forum for anyone who might need it in the future !

I did a quick internet search for shops renting competition bikes in Munich, and didn’t come up anything obvious … however, it was a very brief search. It would be worthwhile to inquire about bike rentals at a shop that specializes in triathlon. Here are a couple shops I found on the web. Perhaps they can at least point you in the right direction. And just to make it clear, I have absolutely affiliation with either of these shops, and have neither visited them, nor bought anything from them, so I cannot vouch for either store. Neither shop had an English webpage, but if you wrote them an e-mail, I am quite sure they would understand what you need.

Some other terms that might be helpful when searching the internet: “Zeitfahrrad” (time trial bike) and “Triathlonrad” (triathlon bike).

You can check out spinlister.com for bike share rentals (discount below). Not sure where you are flying into or where you are traveling to, but I have a buddy in Ramstein that has a stable of bikes that could possibly be willing to rent one out. In fact, he rides 58-60 from my memory, so that might be a possibility as well.

Have you tried contacting the local tri clubs? Maybe they can help.
