Road Bike Geometry Comparison - S-Works Tarmac vs. SuperSix - Need Some Help

I have this bike - a 2012 SuperSix 56cm…with this Geometry spec…

I can get a good deal on this bike - a 2015 S-Works Tarmac 56cm…with this Geometry spec…

The SuperSix has been good to me. A few years ago when I got it I was battling some horrific low back pain. My back is stronger now and I ride both the SuperSix and a Spec Crux EVO (56cm).

I have no idea how to compare or interpret the SuperSix geometry to the Tarmac geometry. What should I be looking for? And yes, I will go ride the Tarmac before buying it.

The sizing is so similar you just need a tiny difference in spacer height

You are extremely unlikely to be able to detect the 2mm difference in bar reach
.

Where did you get this comparison tool as I would like to compare two models I am considering side by side.

I created it. Will be available soon

That close, really? So what, I need a couple of spacers on the Tarmac maybe?

3mm less than the SuperSix to get same bar height. Same stem lengthxangle

I’ve already got a decent stack of spacers on the SuperSix. Does this mean that on the Tarmac I’ll have to pile on even more spacers?

Thanks again for your help on the geometry comparison.

I bought the new Tarmac Pro Disk Race UDi2 about a month ago. Before, I had the High Mod Carbon Super Six for about five years. Both are 52 cm frames. I have not studied the differences in geometry, however, the Tarmac is definitely twitchier. Having said this, I really like the ride of the Tarmac even though it requires a bit more attention the SS.

Wow. Cool. I am glad to have found someone who’s made the switch I’m considering.

So when you say twitchier what do you mean? Handling, cornering, bombing hills in a tuck?

How does it climb compared to the SuperSix?

Thanks.

I don’t mean to imply anything negative by saying twitchier. The Tarmac is stable on descents and under other circumstances. The frame/fork just seems to be slightly more sensitive (responsive?) than the SS. That’s a good thing in some ways and not as good in other ways. For example, I might find myself riding into a ditch a little easier on the Tarmac than on the SS if I’m daydreaming or not paying attention. The bottom line as far as I am concerned is that they are both fantastic bikes.

I forgot to mention that the quality of Roval wheels seem to be as good as my Zipp’s or Bontrager’s and yes, the Tarmac climbs at least as well as the SS.

Last question. Would you buy another Tarmac or go back to SuperSix?

Demo the Specialized/Cannondale/other brand and then let your back decide what to buy. Good luck!
