River to River relay

Is anyone here doing this? I ran it two years ago and volunteered last year at a handoff station, brilliant fun (in a let’s never do this again kind of way)!

You typically run three legs over the course of the day and after each leg you pile into a van with the rest of your team to catch your runner at the next handoff point. I’m planning on running it again in 2013. The race itself covers 80 very hilly miles and crosses the southern tip of Illinois. Having to do your post run recovery crammed into a van makes for interesting recovery indeed.

I’ll be running with the Army ROTC team, post below if you’ll be competing.

I’ve done the past 2 years, leg 1 and 7, and it is a blast. The core members of the team I was with have done 7 years, unfortunately I have moved out of the area. I may look into the cost of flights back to the Lou for the upcoming run.

On top of being stuck in the van with the wonderful smell of sweaty technical gear having all the team members crashing in 2 hotel rooms in Marion to save money is quit interesting also. With being in Marion the night before the race taking advantage (abusing) of the hotels happy hour also can make for some good hungover runners the following morning.
