I just bought a used bike that came with a set of Ritchey wheels. The rear wheel is labeled Ritchey OCR Pro, 6061 T-6 Alloy, ETRTO #622-14. The rear is labeled Ritchey 27 DS Pro, then the same 6061 T-6 Alloy, ETRTO #622-14.
I’m having trouble finding ANY info on these wheels. Anybody know something about them, like: age, quality, weight, durability, present re-sale value, etc.? THANKS!
And I forgot to add that I have a set of 6/9 HED Jet C2’s that I could either put on my new (used) Kestrel 200SCi and keep these Ritchey’s, or sell the Ritchey’s and keep the HED’s. Thoughts?
I have a set of those that came on a cheap bike. They are fine training wheels but I use mine on the trainer with a trainer tire. They never go outside. I just keep them because it’s nice to have a trainer set and I doubt they’re worth the troble to sell
I have similar wheels …they came on my bike when I bought it in 2003. They are my only wheels and have seen a lot of miles and will see a lot more. I’m fussy and true 'em once a year, but mostly they are very small corrections and probably not worth the time. In short they’ve been great wheels for me.
Tribiker, so far, that’s been my experience, too. Though apparently not especially popular on the open market, I’ve quickly grown rather fond of them. Frankly, I like the way they perform. Thanks for the feedback.
Veeman; I’ve got a set of Ritchey OCR Aero pro’s and love them. For long distance tri’s and my long rides (60 miles & up), I prefer these over a number of other sets of wheels that I own. It wasn’t a popular choice on the day but I chose to use them for Kona and they didn’t seem to slow me down. Not neccesarily the lightest or most aero, etc. Just one guy’s opinion but I like 'em and would probably buy another pair if I ran acrossed them at a good price. Of course, tires make a difference too but that’s another thread.
Bey weeks. That’s cool you chose them when for such a high profile race as Kona. You’re in a whole other category from me! I just wonder why I’ve gotten so much better response on the HED Jet 6/9 C2 combo I’m selling verses these wheels. But that’s just fine with me b/c I’ll keep the $$ from the sale of the very popular HED’s, and still be able to roll with these Ritchey’s that I’m liking so much for my lower level rides. I think that’s what folks call a win-win! Funny how the market favors certain products while other quality items seem to have trouble gaining traction. Thanks for your feedback.
My Dual came with those wheels…now that I notice you are not in Canada…I would have offered to buy your crappy wheels ;~)… I have over 20k on those wheels. They have seen everything from sand to snow… clean them up, tune them up and ride the s#$t out of them.
