Huge character in and out of the ring.
Man, I just saw this. He really wasn’t that old … Seemed like a helluva forthright man. I hope he and his family are at peace.

My dad died very young, 40 y/o, he was huge boxing fan. Watching fights with him is one of favorite memories, and Big George was one his favorites.
I was a huge boxing fan as a kid, and remember his comeback win over Moore vividly, watching at my neighbor’s house down the street.
Has anyone in professional sports regained a title after a 20 year lapse? I have to imagine not, certainly not in a sport as physically demanding as boxing. Golf, darts, sailing maybe?
The man had paws like a grizzly. Absolutely massive individual. If you’ve ever seen this spread hung up in a sports bar and compared your fist to his, you know what I’m talking about.

Apologies for the twitter link. Look at those hands, and the power and weight behind them. Sort of like an opposite of how Tyson punched with explosive power, big George just set them on target and the sledgehammers did the work on impact.
I think I would rather take a Tyson punch than a Foreman blow at full speed. Neither would be pleasant.

Without wanting to be disrespectful, 76 seems like a pretty good run for someone who got punched in the face for a living.
A quick Google search showed professional boxers have an average lifespan of 67.7 years. Damn. That is a brutal sport.
Well, when you look at it like that, yeah - I suppose 76 is a pretty good run. Still sucks.

Well, that guy is a dipshit. But I fail to see what he or that post have to do with what I posted?
