Rim recommendations?

Getting a conventional set of (clincher) wheels re-built, should I just go for “Mavic Open Pro” or is there anything better out there?

Any recommendations?

Those work for me. Great everyday rim/wheel. I have 3 pair. Two pair with 14 gauge straight spokes 3X lacing with different cassettes. And one pair with 14-17 double butted spokes 3X lacing. I think of them as “bomb proof” wheels. I have other wheels for specialized needs.

You could do a lot worse.

Open Pro’s are great. If you want something a little aero, the Velocity Deep V rims are great. Bombproof, w/ a 30mm rim.

Both are good, but I’d get the Velocity’s for the small aero benefit.
