Riding Position (1)

Hi All,

I recently started using my Trek road bike for tris. I know a TT or strapping on aeros would be better but if im just sticking with the standard handlebars with drops, where should i spend my time or how should i split it between hoods and drops. Ive done a bike fitting at a good local tri shop but am finding my arms / hands losing feeling if I get to 20mins+ in one position (particularly the hoods). Thanks!

Well, the obvious answer is in whatever position presents the smallest profile to the oncoming wind, which almost certainly is down on the drops. But aero is only part of the equation and I’m going to let other jump in with their knowledge to either agree with or contradict my opinion.
