Rides in NW Arkansas

Please help I’m doing time in NW arkansas for the next 12 days and need help finding a decent ride to get in some miles. checked with the few locals I know here and found no viable options. Traffic seems to be hell everywhere I have scouted. I hate to just swim and run for a dozen days.

There is some great riding there (assuming you are in the Fayetteville area) … i lived there for 7 years.

go to www.arkansasracing.com … click on local rides … anything towards west fork, winslow, mountainburg, “Black Oak Loop”, might even be one called the “Winslow Death March” … cool ride … there are also some shorter rides. They also list their group rides on that site, these will be roadie type rides … usually a strong group.

Also check www.trisportclub.com … they have WED pm (shorter) & SUN (longer) group rides … not sure what speeds they are riding OR at what level anymore (the Wed ride is usually good size and variety)

Good luck, there really is some wonderful riding in that part of the state.

Where are you from that you consider traffic hell in NW Arkansas?

I’m mean we’re not talking about Long Island here.

Put the bike in the car, drive 20 miles either east or west and ta dah, now you are out in the boonies. Point the bike away from town and ride…

that would be the sticks…way out…take a piss of my front porch at 11:00 AM IN MY BOXERS. but really, the rides i did here 5 years ago are a no go due the ever increasing number of old folks cruising in oldsmobuicks and the local crop of MILFs(self described) bouncin around in the H1’s H’2 and other large landbarges with their cells shoved in their ears eating chick-filet-a nugs by the barrel load. No its no the 836 in Miami but for here the increase in the population is just too much for the roads now.

Sounds like every metro area in the country… Although having visited there many times, I know it can be much, much worse. Just add 10-20mph to every car and add a total disregard for traffic laws and you have something resembling Long Island.

I guess the answer is you just ride. Same as all the folks that live in metro areas across the country.
