Anyone have any experience with these frames or bikes? I have a chance to buy either frameset for between 1k and 1200.00 new. Made in taiwan and sold thru a company in Tennessee. Looks like a Felt knockoff but the geometry is sized a little smaller. Feedback would be appreciated.
Correction, it is Max lelli liger. Someone on ST has to know something about these frames, right?
I dont consider $1000 a good price for a knock off taiwan bike.
Why does this frame appeal to you?
You can buy direct for half that, but I wouldnt do that either. Mainly due to warranty concerns for both the lelli or the ebay one.
That bike is rock solid and fast. Mike Olheiser rode his to a National and World Champion Ship TT title this year. He liked his so much I purchased one for my wife.
My wife did her first IM on hers and absolutely loved it. She went 5:45 and came off the bike ready to run.
She was on a P2SL and sold it after the first ride on the Rider TTR-1.
I haven’t come across anyone that doesn’t really love theirs.
I would highly recommend giving one a try if the geometry is right for you.
The scary thing is that Olheiser would be faster on a different bike. Says it is just like Felt. I would say it “looks” just like felt but the tubeshapes are awful and the bike can be found on Taiwan/China direct sites for about $450.
It is similar to the Felt in appearance, I have been too lazy to compare stack and reach.
I picked my wife’s bike up state side because I wanted to help the smaller guys out with their business here. I still got a great deal, made the wife very happy and was able to help out a small business man.
A win win situation for me.
Mike may well be faster on something else, but the he likes the bike and Rider has been good to him. The one thing that I have learned from him is that you only make changes when necessary.
Thanks for the input. I think i’m going to pass on these deals an stick with better known brands. My Seduza that was cutting edge when I got it in 2006 is getting a little outdated. It has been a solid performer for me. I want to upgrade to something alittle smaller 51-52 tt and current. I’ll keep looking.
No worries at all. I hope that you find something that you love and allows you to be a true dream crusher!
I saw the Max Lelli Liger in person since a friend of mine rides it. I don’t think it is a knock-off. Are you sure about this?
I’m riding the road version of it, called the Team… absolutely fantastic ride.
Did you really think it is an original mold?

The company that is selling the rider ttr-1 is used the max Kelli liger geometry chart in an email they sent to me.
Call me naive but I thought they deleveloped their own mold. Have you seen a similar looking frame under a different name?
That is not naive, that is marketing.
I don’t think they are knock offs. If you look closely there are several differences
rear seat stays are different (the chinese frame widens after leaving the seat post but the Rider/Liger frame stays the same width the way down)the bottom bracket area is different (the chinese one has a distinct nose on it whereas the R/L frame doesn’tthe top tube is different (the chinese one is a steady taper the R/L changes 2/3 the way down)the front forks are different between the two.the chain stays are differentBasically they are completely different. The Liger and the Rider frames, on the other hand, are identical.
How about this one?

Now those look identical.
Same geometry as the Rider and liger frames.
Although IIRC the max lellii was shown at interbike a full year before the genius. 2007 and 2008
At least the Max Lelli and the Genius have ok paint jobs. The Rider TTR-1 is terrible.
Another concern I have is the actual aero-ness of the bikes. Cobb has insinuated that Leader frames are more aero than most cheaper carbon aero frames.
What is the width and depth of the downtube, seat tube?
Take a look at this table from Ceepo’s website for comparison:
My Cervelo P3 alu is 29.5 x 75mm
Leader has told me their downtube dimensions are 28mm x 80.
My point is if you want a cheaper aero bike there are better options than some carbon aero looking bike.
