Jeez …
Thanks. I’m a researching in between PS3 gaming with my son … The Easton EC 90 SLX looks promising. Anybody have any insight on the newer Look HSC forks? Had an old HSC1 I think on my old Vortex. Was OK. Replaced it after a crash with a Reynold Ouzo Pro that I liked a lot.
LOL…just took me about 20 minutes to find Looks site. I can tell you that my Ultimate came with an HFC, and I think the HFC is still the lightest fork out. I replaced it last year for an Ouzo Pro for no good reason.
this recall- separating of Aluminum dropout bonded to fork leg… is EXACTLY what happened to me 2 years ago with my Easton Aero EC90 (the first generation of this fork)… Easton- replaced it for me… luckily I was only going about 20-22 mph- up a hill - after just descending a hill- and it felt like my front wheel had broken a spoke- b/c my front wheel immediately was rubbing my brakes… i got off my bike, opened up the brakes- and it was still rubbing… and then i looked down- and I saw my skewer holding my wheel to only 1 fork leg! … I was very happy that I wasn’t going down a huge hill at the time… as the failure was catastrophic- a full Al dropout severing from the fork!
This recall notice is six months old and only affected a very small number of forks. By now they have all been replaced. As long as the UL fork you are looking at does not have the grey stripe down the fork legs then you are ok.
