I am considering going full dentist and buying a disc wheel at retail price from either Dash or Alto, but I have not seen any reviews by real people. Anyone have experience with these products? Are there any other tubeless ready, wide clincher discs on the market that make sense for less than $2,000? Obviously this is very expensive to use half a dozen times per year, so I’m nervous
I have no idea what the hell is going on at HED’ but there are some crazy deals. Jet+ black for 1100

Flo disc is $650 for the hybrid and $950 for full carbon. Both are wide and tubeless compatible.

I prefer structural carbon
Its actually even cheaper, 1100 less 25% with the coupon code HED25, comes to 824 + shipping.
I’d take one of these over a disc cover. Sure the cover is just as fast, but I didn’t enjoy taking it off and putting it on. And if you are going to have a dedicated wheel for it, then add in the cost for that wheel…

I prefer to be able to get tires on a rim with my hands or with a single lever. I also like to stop when I brake.
Another HED Jet+ disc user here. Love mine.

Not sure what your saying but I have had great luck with the flo disk four about four years. That one is aluminum and was the fastest disk I had in the wind tunnel.
The carbon 60/90 set stop just fine even wet with their pads, or at least as well as my Firecrest zipp 303

I think he was referring to the carbon version, although nothing stops like Black. If you don’t have Black in the front though no need for Black in the back IMHO, it is just too much stopping power in the rear in that case. Out of curiosity, any chance you could throw your wind tunnel file up somewhere? Love to see what you tested.

Go with a used Renn. Flat discs are slightly faster when drafting a cutout seat tube, and used discs are typically in great shape since they are race only wheels.
Spend a couple of hours with the dash v2 yesterday and a corsa speed tyre. Tyre didnt seal to the preinstallede tubeless tape, so tried the silica 25mm instead. Tape looked like a perfect fit, but i think the wheel dimensions are simply too big for a course speed and two wraps of silica. Or the tyre is too small most likely. Even with compressor air i couldnt get the beads to blow out to the rim edges.
Anyone else mangaged to mount a corsa speed tubeless to this wheel?
Any clue when we will see a 25mm corsa speed? Ran over a large screw on my other wheels with a corsa speed tubeless. Pulled it out of the tyre, big visual hole, lost of spray, turned the hole towards the pavement, waited a little, added air and rode off. Raced the same wheel and tyre today for an OL distance, no issues whatsoever. Pretty sold on this tubeless stuff.
What would would be the 2nd most preferred tubeless tyre? Please dont say schwalbe pro one…
Edit: too many spelling mistakes to correct. Thanks iOS
If you are going full-dentist, make sure you get a solid core disk that does a proper “whomp-whomp” sound when you pedal.

That link is for a “track” disc however… but geez…the regular jet black disc is going for $999…what is going on?

Can you elaborate on this a little? There should be no issues putting tires on a FLO DISC wheel… Do you have experience with our DISC wheels? If so, what tire were you using?
Can I ask I why you couldn’t stop on our A+C DISC, or even our Carbon DISC?
Tubeless install pro tips from the fat bike world.
-
Install rim tape and mount tire WITH tube and ride it for a few days. This will lay the tape down solidly to the rim surface and create the best possible bond between rim and tape.
-
Remove ONE bead and pull the tube out and put the tubeless valve in place. It’s much easier to mount tubeless tires with one bead already in place.
EXTRA CREDIT: try the above with no sealant first to make sure you will get a good seal. It’s an extra step that can prevent a mess of sealant all over the place.
