Review of Assos shorts

Thought this might help some of you peeps:
Recently purchased a pair of Assos T FI.Uno_s5

Price $199

Previous Shorts: Louis Garneau(Large), Sugoi(Large), Gore(Medium), Castelli(xl- but still too small), Pearl Izumi (L)

Fit: Purchased a Medium- seem about right, the Gores were a tad tighter and fit better overall. I am 5’9 175 lbs
Found that they seemed a bit long too could be an inch or 2 shorter on the cuff. If I loose any weight I will have to go down to a small.
3.5/5

Quality: Material and stitching are excellent. Washed them about 18-20 times and no signs of wear from either the washing machine or bike.
The use of different materials including the mesh are excellent. Comes with a wash bag however it always opens in the wash so of no use.
Use of silcon beads at the bottom on the cuff keeps the short in place however the short seems a tad too long. Not a huge fan of the cuff material, stretch
banding material however it is more of an aesthetic opinion then that of function.
The only thing that would have been nice is to have some sort of pocket somewhere on the bib to put/place things like an ipod or money.
Like the use of small reflector highlites in a few places on the short for safety.

4.5/5

Chamois: The most important part. A very large chamois compared to other brands in that it looks like giant maxi pad, not too thick
but wide enough that is a noticable difference from other chamois. However the ride quaility of the chamois is excellent.
I have not used it in the middle of scorching weather in a 100km ride but maybe will update that in August.
Will be riding longer rides into the summer and this will be my goto pair for longer rides.

4.5/5

Value: With a larger pad you can feel that there is less pressure on specific parts of the butt. While other companies might vary
the thickness of the pad at specific points Assos doesnt and it does not suffer from that design.
The materials used on this short are excellent and I would say the superior to all of the shorts/pants I have used the only constant fault I had with
the short was that it wasnt a perfect fit overall and would probably be better suited to somebody taller.

As far as the $200 range bib short this is the entry level for Assos however for most companies this is their Pro Line price point so I would say these are
a little expensive for an entry level short however just as good or better then other Companies Pro line shorts.

4.5/5

Total 17/20

Hopefully this will help some others
