Rev3 is back

Just got this in my e-mail. I don’t know if the Rev3/Challenge has severed relationships. I was hoping they would continue to work together to put on races in the NA. Rev3 & Challenge put on great races. In NA most don’t have the m-dot competitive field (Quassy a notable exception) but I think this would grow as people experience the top-notch organization.
Rev3 Triathlon is Back!Rev3 returns in 2016
OCTOBER 1, 2015 – ATP Productions, Inc., parent company of Revolution3 Triathlon, announced today that they will return to producing races under the Rev3 brand in 2016. The races will have the same attention to quality and detail that athletes have come to expect from the Rev3 race series.

It’s official now. The website went live early, I believe, before it should have.

I missed that. I guess my search was not as thorough as it should have been.

I’m waiting for Slowman and/or Slowtwitch to do a piece on this. Did 2 Challenge events this year and loved them. Never raced Rev3. I’d like to know the politics/economics of this move. Is Challenge now out of the U.S? I liked them combined because David needs some size to take on the Goliath that is the WTC/Chinese group

Received an email today that Rev3 opened registration for the 2016 series today:

The 2016 Rev3 race season will kick off in Knoxville, Tennessee on Sunday, May 15th. The most popular venues are on the calendar and we are excited to shake things up a bit! The season wraps up in September at the Roller Coaster Capital of the World, Cedar Point, Ohio with a kids race, sprint distance, half and FULL!

Watch for weekly newsletters with up to the minute information about individual race venues. You won’t want to miss out on the Revolution. Start planning now and we look forward to seeing you in 2016!

That’s fine(they had a good reputation before) but if they were a strong American brand ; why did they jump ship in the first place and license with Challenge? Sounds a bit pompous to me to be spewing this when 12 months ago they went to Challenge.

I, for one, am really happy to see Rev3 back. I’ve done a couple of their races in the past and have always been super happy with my experience. I cannot say the same for the one Challenge race I did. I do wish that Rev3 would look at added some races on the west coast though.

I did Rev3 Rush and really expected to see the Challenge brand name there but it wasn’t.

I’ll see how Challenge Florida goes in a few weeks.

Not sure which Challenge race you did but if it wasn’t CAC then in all intents and purposes it was the Rev people running the Challenge race…all it was was a licensing deal…same RDs.

So when people say they were unhappy with challenge and it was one of the former Rev races they are essentially saying they were unhappy with REV since they were operating the races.

You’re right, but this was Challenge AC which was always a CAC race and never a Rev3 event.

There were some changes to the Challenege USA races even though Rev3 staff still put on the race. No free finisher picture was one. Hopefully Rev3 will bring those back. Who knows why they went away, but I’m sure the licensing agreement did have some constraints.

Actually CAC was run by a Hybrid of Delmo Sports and Robert Vigorito as you may already be aware that he used to run Eagleman for many years. Both respected RD’s. I believe the venue at AC was more of the problem than the Rd’s

I did three Rev3s. total finisher pics - zero. And one of them I finished second in my AG. When I emailed them about it, they said, “oh, we can’t catch everyone.” true, but don’t advertise it most times you don’t actually get a finisher picture.

That said, the finisher medals were always awesome in their creativity (shark tooth in FL, Ferris Wheel in Ohio, Swiss Cheese in WI). Also, always tons of prizes being handed out day before the race, and finisher swag for placing was very awesome, useful stuff.

If u are ninja fast u cant expect to be in any photos. Take it as something positive instead of complaining.i.e u were too fast for them.
