Retrocalcaneal Bursitis recovery methods?

I stopped running and biking after the first sign of inflammation and have been sticking my foot in a bucket of ice water for 15 min 5-6 times a day and stretching my Achilles. Does anyone know of any good recovery tricks or good vitamins to take to get the swelling to go down? How long does it usually take for these things to heel?

How did you arrive at a retrocalcaneal bursitis diagnosis? This usually is accompanied by other issues (insertional achilles tendonitis/opathy, posterior equinus, Haglund’s deformity, etc.). Pure bursitis is commonly seen in hockey players or figure skaters from direct mechanical irritation.

Ice is helpful, but you don’t need your whole foot in. Just the frozen peas, dixie cup to the area is good, if not better. Oral NSAIDs, wear some sandals, and expect 10-14 days MIN if just that. Again, there is usually more going on though …
