I seemed to have strained my Rectus Femoris muscle. I’m trying to rest it but am not entirely sure what aggravates it. Yesterday I decided not to ride or run but instead take a trail walk with my dog. last night the injury was the worst it has been. I’m guessing the up and down hills is the problem. I go down stairs leading with the injured leg and up leading with good leg. I’m going to try and keep dog walks to flat surfaces and take a week or so off from biking and running. Not entirely sure if kicking in the pool will aggravate it. I’ve had this on and off for about a month or more. Thought I had somewhat healed it at one point.
I haven’t seen a doctor but it acts like a muscle strain. It can be fine for a couple miles than start to cramp up when I get more tired. If I’m walking on flat surfaces I don’t feel it. It just seems to be stuff that requires going up or down.

That sounds like a couple of people describing their stress fracture symptoms on this board, to be honest. There was a recent thread about it you might search for.
