Request: Thread preview from cursor

Jordan et al-

I know nothing of forum design or development- and I only frequent two forums on the internet (this one and a pilot forum for my company). But on that other forum, when looking at the list of current threads, when you move your cursor over each thread title a small “bubble/box” appears and the text of the first post (or most of the first post) is shown (without clicking).

I find this particularly useful as I’m trying to follow threads and need a reminder of “which one” the thread is. (helpful when there are four Crowie threads going). Also, it would help me screen posts whose subject matter might not be so clear via the title, and let me decide if the thread is worth opening.

Just a thought- but I find it a nice feature.

Thanks for running this-

Jared

I like that as well. I think it’s reasonably easy to do, so I’ll see if we can do it. That being said, more clicks = more page views. So, for an ad funded site, I’m not sure we can really afford to do that.

I considered that (clicks = revenue). But I didn’t know if “sub-clicks” (opening a thread) was counted or if just landing on the forum/homepage was all that mattered.

If clicks = revenue = site remains, then leave it as is.
