Replacement Felt DA Rubber Plug for Top Tube Cable Entry?

Is this something I can buy a replacement for? The mechanic who first worked on my bike tore it up, so I removed it. I’d like to try and replace it if possible.

I know they sell the frame plug kit on Felt’s website, but it appears to only have the plugs for the rear/front derailleur housings.

I had to go through my dealer to get that specific part. Moment Cycle Sport in San Diego hooked me up. They had to reach out to their rep. You are correct that the particular part does not come in the plug kit.

You’ve been actually able to get that plug seated? I haven’t been able to seat either the top tube one nor the rear derailleur one. Any hints?

No idea. I never got to that point since it was ripped when I first got the bike. You could try soaking it in warm/hot water to get it pliable. Or perhaps rub something like mineral oil on it to slide it in.

Thanks. This is of course one of the reasons why I despise Felt. Where’s that 0 rise stem we were told would be out a long time ago?

I could get it seated only after I switched to alligator i-link cables. I used the mini for the shifters and the regular for the rear brake. They are more flexible than standard type of cable housings and of course the mini are mini.

Could you post a few picks of the alligator i-link cables? I’m curious how it looks.

How are they compared to standard jagwire? Was it worth paying the extra $$?

Hi, I had the same problem, after hours of surfing internet I found where you can buy those parts… unfortunately you have to pay an additional fee bc they are coming from Europe. Here is the website: http://www.felt-stuff.com/parts/tri-tt/spares/

get ahold of your retailer small parts like this are often available to them through warranty but no place else. I just ordered a similiar part for a Specialized Ruby , the parts are available, but they figure warranty is the only need they would have.

Call up your Felt LBS. They’ll be able to order you replacement top tube plugs, and rd/fd plugs.

Well tomorrow I will call them and see if they can place my order… Thank you guys…

“Walk” the plug into the frame recess starting with one small area then work the lip into the frame. The procedure is similar to installing a clincher tire on a rim. A popsicle stick helps to push and work the hook of the plug into the frame.

The plugs are a somewhat standard item and can be found from your Felt dealer or a few dozen other online sources.

Yes, the stems passed testing. Aftermarket packaging for the stems was developed and they are in production now. We’ll have a couple weeks of downtime during the Chinese New Year holiday but they’ll be in stock this spring as there are no longer any hurdles to overcome for production to commence. It would have been premature to sell the previous generation stems as V1, 2, and 3 did not pass our fatigue testing and V4 did not fit our newest Bayonet3 carbon handlebars. The most recent version solves all the previous obstacles in bringing the product to market. Even though the demand is very small relative to the number of bicycles and frames sold because of the extreme position the base bars are placed in with the flat stem there are a few consumers that prefer the lower position and others still who simply like the appearance of the bike set up this way. 51cm frame sizes will need to use the Felt front brake as there is really no room to route the cable housing for a conventional dual pivot caliper.

So the DA2 Bayonet4 equipped bicycles with flat 0mm rise stems and the aftermarket Bayonet3 flat 0mm rise stems will be showing up shortly and your dealers can now get the items placed on backorder so the purchases can begin to get filled in a first order in, first product out basis.

I’m glad that everyone can now order a 0 rise stem. Now I never said I didn’t love you guys either.

…considering I must be crazy to buy a new F5 with all of that disdain. Though while we’re at it you can tell the engineers behind the F series something for me. If they want to put fixed barrel adjusters on the downtube, that’s fine. However they could at least lower them an extra cm down/away from the fork, so the the cable entry doesn’t have a bad angle creating unnecessary friction. They’re practically useless…and I tried all sort of configurations. Then again maybe the rivet guy needed some more coffee and I just ended up with a dud bike. The guy who didn’t fully press in the bearings before boxing up the bike and shipping it to my LBS could have used some.

Thanks for the news on the stem!

Will the 0mm rise be offered in two lengths?

Also, will it fit a 51 DA4 2012 with original brakes and handlebars?

Are you using aluminum ferrules? Stem length could be a factor on cable housing angle as well. Maybe try some “mouse tail” ferrules if you’re having an issue. The LBS is responsible for checking installation, that’s why we use the IBD channel, not consumer direct as many other brands employ.

Thanks again for your additional support.

I will be buying one of these mythical beasts and I enjoyed how you just slipped this info into an unrelated post. This will slightly alleviate my disdain my felt bikes, it will not fully make up for the new AR, I do not need a new road bike, why are you making me want one so freaking bad!

I can’t wait to use the 0 degree stem on my felt IA with integrated frame bladder!
