Repairing Trisuit

Hi all,

Had a crash last year and my trisuit has a hole just bout the chest, about a big thumbnail size, has anyone ever repaired a trisuit with a patch?

Andy

I used the iron-on sticky patches on shorts a few times.

You have to be really careful with the heat from the iron. I practiced on an older pair of shorts I was about to throw out.

Not yet, as I keep my past years suits for when I crash. I have been recommended using tailors that work on gymnastic/dance outfits to tighten the top half for aerodynamics. Take it to a tailor.

Go to a craft store like Michael’s. There you’ll find those round patches they use on wetsuits on seams, you’ll find bonding tape/strips, glue and some other stuff to make repairs. FWIW I have a small speed suit repair kit that I built for ~ $20. have used it on several suits over the years.

To repair turn the suit inside out and use some sort of bonding material to pull the rip together. Glue everything up, put one or more of those round things on it and you should be good to go

The heated patches can be dangerous for many fabrics. You can use gear-aid repair tape or similar on most fabrics. Easy to find online or REI if you have one nearby. I’ve used it on cycling rain shells after laying the bike down. Downside is most of these products don’t have much if any stretch.
