I have a mavic cosmic carbone sl and the carbon fairing has pulled away from the structural aluminum rim. The wheel runs true but the fairing, as mentioned, is detached from the rim.
Two questions: Is it worth fixing myself? I don’t much care what it looks like. Second question, what epoxy would you use?
Pretty much any adhesive that will bond to both the CF resin and the aluminum rim will work. Cyanoacryrate (super glue) would probably be fine; personally I’d go with a urethane cement (ex. wetsuit cement) since it’s a bit more resilient (a thin coat on the inside of the fairing and one on the rim, let them dry for 5min then press/clamp together for 24hrs).
