Repair to torn wetsuit neck - sew or patch?

I have decided to try my hand at repairing a torn seam on a wetsuit. I’ve got Aquaseal on hand to bond the edges, and some scrap neoprene to create a reinforcing patch. I’m just curious … is it more effective to mend the seam by cluing with Aquaseal and sewing it together, or gluing the edges, and reinforcing this with an additional glued piece of 1/2mm neoprene on the outside of the suit?

Here’s the damage:

You should contact DeSoto first. You’d be surprised at what length Emilio will go on customer service.

X2 on contacting Desoto.

That’s a weird place to repair, if you don’t stitch it right you could create a pretty uncomfortable hot spot. I don’t think I would want to do a race with a wetsuit burn on the back of my neck, a spot that will then be exposed to the sun all day.

Not the original owner of the suit, so I’m not entitled to the warrantee.
