Relocating to Louisville Kentucky

… from Denver. Where should I live? I’m 32, single, want to be near the best parks. I’ll be selling med devices in Lexington and Evansville so freeway access is important too.

Also, where is the best pool to join? Thanks y’all!!

I would suggest either the Highlands or St Matthew’s as they are surrounding Cherokee and Seneca Parks.

As far as pools go there are several in town to choose from but I’d check out Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center which is just a couple min. drive from both of those neighborhoods.

Welcome to town!

I sent you a PM, with an email contact for a good friend that lives in Louisville and he could give you great triathlon information about the Louisville area. He is the volunteer coordinator for Ironman Louisville and a great guy.

I just moved back home in January and I would go with the Highlands. I say this because the Highlands is closer to the parks and there is more nightlife. The running in Louisville is awesome. I have lived all over the US and I think Cherokee and Seneca parks are two of the best parks in the country. And then you add in Iroquois and the surrounding parks and you have some great running. Check out the Triple crown races and the Kentucky Derby mini marathon. I don’t know much about the cycling and triathlon scene because I didn’t ride when I lived here before.

You can swim at the University of Louisville pool for $40 a month. There is also the Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center that is $38 a month.

If you have any other questions let me know.

Time to get into cyclocross this fall as well as they have a pretty large contingent down there for some reason with a USGP race there that is awesome (as well as IMLou as I’m sure you know)
.

The Highlands are super nice (anything along the Bardstown Rd coridor near Cherokee Park). A bit pricey but really nice. I used to live there and would love to again in a heartbeat.

Frankfort Ave would be another good area (can’t recall the neighborhood name). All the same things (proximity to interstate, Cherokee and nightlife) but a tad more sedate and perhaps less pricey.

St Matthews (east side of Cherokee) is nice, but with less night life.

Primarily you want to stay within 264 and not west of I65. The riding and running is really good in Louisville.

Screw the Ville…live in Lexington where all the hot ladies and fast ponies are! Go to keenelands spring meet on a sunny saturday and you too will be a believer.

Lexington has one fun thing to do and that is Keeneland for two months of the year. The rest of the time there is nothing for a single 32 year old to do. The hot women he talks about are hot but for the most part are in college. I lived there when I was right out of college and didn’t like it then I think would be miserable now being 29. My friends that like it there either went to UK or are from there.

Crescent Hill. Think more 30-something professionals, often with young families. Love the neighborhood.

It takes me literally 2 minutes to get to the I64 on ramp. Under 1.5 mi run to either Seneca or Cherokee Parks. Within a mile of Mary T aquatic center.

The Highlands is a great neighborhood too, but more pricey. The closer to Bardstown road you are, the more of a party atmosphere. The closer to the park, the more expensive the house.

St. Matthews is a nice area, but you don’t get as much for your money compared to these two neighborhoods.

If you want new construction instead of old neighborhoods that puts you outside of the downtown area (east.) We wanted the neighborhood feel, so I don’t know too much about those areas.

Three places you’ll want to look: St Matthews (where I live), Highlands and Frankfort ave. /Cresent HIll areas. All close to Cherokee and Seneca Parks (Good running and riding) as well as Mary T Meagher Pool. Great restaurants on Frankort and in the Highlands. On warm sunny days the scenery at Seneca can be quite nice. Many people start and end their group rides there also. You’ll like it here…L’ville is the best kept secret around.

glad you left…more hot “college” girls for us

I agree with the highlands and crescent hill areas. I live in the Highlands and love it here. I would consider St. Matthews but depending on where you work it could be a long commute as traffic in that area can be bad. I would also consider the Butchertown area. It is more downtown, and has a nice mix of very old homes and new condos and is a quick route to most of the parks and Mary T. Maegher.

I can’t thank you all enough. I’m getting super excited to move! Flying out next week to sign a lease - job starts March 1.

Just transferred my Community Fund slot from Ironman CDA to Louisville, so I’ll be looking for fun training partners. See you all in either the Highlands, St Matthews, or Crescent Hill (maybe even Butchertown).

Best,

Ben

Question 2: There’s not much on Craigslist. Is another website used for listing rental homes? Another publication? Thanks.
