Refletive tape at IM?

Just saw this in the email from IMLP

“You must wear reflective tape during the run…no exceptions! You can get reflective tape at the Inside Out tent.”

What exactly do they mean by reflective tape…just somwhere on your body you must have reflective tape? Is this actually enforced?

Most people just put the little reflective stickers on their race numbers.

I picked up some reflective tape at the hardware store for next to nothing and pasted it on my shirt. I had a friend that found some “reflective” material liek that that is in some ruinning cloths and sewed them in a few places on his top. I might do that this year.

Not sure you can put the tape on your race number as your number could be removed. If that were the case why not make the race numbers reflective and spare all of us the hassle?

As someone mentioned you can buy a little roll of reflective tape at darn near any hardware store for a couple $. Just put a little piece on the back of each shoe, and a couple peices on the back of the shirt and shorts you’ll wear for the run.

I doubt it’s really enforced, but for $2 and about 60 seconds of effort, just do it.

I put a couple of those reflective dots on my number and attach a short strip of reflective tape to the back of my number belt. If you double it around and stick it to itself it will stay on. I put a piece on each shoe but at least one fell off.

One thing, if you plan to order your finish picture take the reflectors off the front of you before you enter the oval, they will appear as a huge glare in your photo.

It is a stupid rule. About 75% of all athletes will be done before sundown. They are just being cheap. They should provide some glow sticks at the aid stations when it is apparent that people are not going to make it in before dark. The tape never stays on.

They make a silver 2 inch tape with a honeycomb pattern , US coastguard approved . You may find it at a marine supply .Its the best I have seen.
