Recovery ride or rest?

I’m debating riding my bike at 160w for an hour this evening and was wondering if there is any benefit to this at all, or whether I should just follow my plan which doesn’t have a bike on it. My FTP is close to 300w (it really is) and was wondering if doing 160w (the top end of my recovery zone) has any benefit at all.

Thanks,
Ken

…or whether I should just follow my plan …

Hope you didn’t pay for it, you’re not getting your money’s worth…

I always feel better after a ride. If you have the dicipline to pedal easy I cna see no real down side to spending time in the saddle.

Don’t worry, I sent the same question to my coach. I have more time on my hands than I had when I asked for the plan. The coaches advice will trump the ST opinion, but I was curious as to what the advice might be.

For the most part I pay for what is not on the plan, more than what is on it. I.e. I would over train like crazy if left to my own devices.

I would have the discipline by setting the CompuTrainer in Erg mode to 160w, so it would be mostly out of my control.

What is the next day’s training look like?
Will you be ready to complete that one if you ride?

If you don’t feel motivated to ride at that, or if you have a more important thing to do, then rest. But, if you want to ride that is not a bad option. Sometimes doing something really easy, makes you feel better the next day then dong nothing.
