Recommendations for Waterville Valley, NH lodging

Looks like a family trip to accompany me for the Black Fly Tri (all three races) in July. Two daughters plus wife, for a week. Should be in town. Anyone suggest good places to stay, and places to avoid? I see the Village Condominium, Snowy Owl Inn, Black Bear Lodge, Golden Eagle Lodge, seem reasonable.

Is there enough to keep the kids entertained for 4-5 days?

Thanks for any tips and assistance.

It’s worth making the trip up 93 and over the Kank to Attitash for the Alpine Slide. Its not too far to head to Lakes Region for swimming and boating. If you can get up here by thursday afternoon head to Loudon, race training on the Nascar track is an absolute blast and pretty unique setting.

they’re all right there. Golden Eagle is nice, as is the Black Bear Lodge and Snowy Owl. I’ve been in them all. LOTS to do for kids. Tons of hiking, biking, swimming at Corcoran’s pond, etc. You’re also close to the White Mountains, too. Fireworks Saturday evening. Little Bugger Kids tri on Saturday too.

We’re meeting with the people from Curious George Cottage (yup, the person who created Curious George lived in Waterville Valley), who have a Curious George museum/camp. We’re going to incorporate the Camp into the Black Fly Weekend. Curious George and the Man with the yellow hat will be making an appearance.

The great part is you can walk out of your hotel, and be within a couple 100 yds of it all…

Racing at Loudon is fun but you need to bring a road bike, no aerobars allowed.

True, I forgot to mention that. Thanks for the pick-up.

Perhaps you could have a special showing of the new release during the event:

Curious George and the snowblower: Why George has no tail
.

I’ll bring that up to them. Not sure if that’ll hurt our chances of having the camp, though:)
