That’s it, I’ve had it with swimming in a speedo, then struggling to put on bike shorts and and bike shirt – damn things always stick because I am wet, etc.
So, which single piece tri-suits should be on my short list and why? I don’t know if it matters, but I am 6’1’’ 180 lbs. For this kind of purchase, $$$ is not my biggest concern.
I used a DeSoto last year, and I’m using a Voler this year. I like the DeSoto because it has a longer cut in the thigh. The Voler suit has a better pad, though, so overall it’s a little more comfortable. To borrow the overused expression- go with what fits (sorry, I had to say that
I have tried them all and found Zoot or DeSoto trishorts and a lycra top work best. I like the Desoto lycra tritop best cause it is cut low in the arm holes and neck.
All the trisuits have a tight neck that rubs in the swim, are hot, and make you want to run bent over. I love to bike in them so it is not all a loss in the purchase. Some of their arm holes aren’t too good for the swim either. Good luck, hate to give you bad news. G
I like the Sugoi suit. Long enough inseam, front zip for easy access (although you should unzip at least 1/2 way for the run, the zipper can cause some interesting chafing/cuts), two small pockets on back, great chamois (small fleece). I like it a lot more than my L. garneau tri gear (shorts have two layers and I hate excess fabric in the groin region, and are a bit too short for my liking). Plus no annoying elastic along the bottom of the short leg.
I just purchased a desotto one piece(sleeveless). I used it for wildflower 1/2 ironman. I loved it and plan on using it on all my tri’s…It has a small pad on the shorts which I like because its not big at all, you hardley feal it. Ive tried to run in regular bike shorts but the pads made it difficult to run in.
